Asus Xonar DX worst sound card on the Planet!!

Bought the Xonar DX and Sennheiser HD 555 headphones right.

SO hear wa going now nah.

Install everything and first thing I went to was windows sound control to look for the tone adjustment. You know that advanced tab where you can raise treble and bass slider but its usually graved off and not selectable with cheap onboard sound.

So I running excited they man to raise these 2 sliders all the way just I had done with my Audigy 2 ZS. LOW and behold it has NONE!!!!!

Now I am forced to use the garbage Equalizer to raise the bass and heights. Mind you I hate to use EQ is just distorts the sound the best way I find to raise bass and treble is adjusting that tone slider. Its hard to explain it but its as if it Raises the bass volume instead of adjusting a retarded Equlizer.

Now mind you this 116db card is so clean even with the Xonar EQ and WMP EQ bass all the way up thos MOFO actually sounds rather clean and impressive. But it can in no way touch my old Audigy 2 ZS. This is bad for headphones.

Beware people the Xonar DX is the worst card on the planet for any headphone. I am totaly disappointed and disgusted in Asus for only focussing on 35 times cleaner than onboard audio and not giving an option to adjust the bass. I wish I had my old Audigy 2 ZS back now but the crap had dreaded driver issues I always hated creative for that.

I also think you have posted this to the wrong forum. Try HTPC maybe?

Auzen tech makes some nice sound cards.

Generally, a sound card is acting as a pre/pro, so wanting tone adjustment is akin to heresy since you want the most purest reproduction of the source material possible.

Additionally, Sennheiser are not generally known for their bass prowess although they can be adequate with proper headphone amplification.

If I were you, I'd look into getting a set of pro Sony headphones with an external amplifier, or better source material so you won't feel the need to up the bass, or both.

Good luck.

I should have listened to the guys at Head fi and bought the Grado or the other one they were speaking of.

I am to hard headed it would seem. Should have bought headphone amp aswell and kept my onboard audio I may have came out a thousand times better.

But noooooo I had to be a stupid brand name guy and go buy Sennheiser. When I could of bought a AKG.

Anyways well this will have to do anyways. its quite an impressive upgrade nonetheless from a logitech Z2300.

The senns HD555 does actually give some radical bass in crunk Music and stuff.
Plus its so comfortable u never even know u have it on.
