I don't question what you saw, but just a quibble about concepts here:
The main point of a projector using a dynamic iris is to decrease the black floor below the capabilities of the projector described by it's native contrast alone. So I believe that a 3300:1 native PJ could have a lower black floor than the RS1, using the dynamic iris.
Interesting you didn't find it to be the case.
Taking the pulse of the few (non-projectorcentral) user reports filtering in, the Panasonic is sounding like a very nice projector but not the threat to the JVC line that some of us felt it might be, in terms of performance.
