16' or 18' throw for AE3000?

So it's gonna be here this afternoon. I have my choice of two potential mounting locations. One is ~16', the other is ~18'. Screen size is 120"

Would one be preferable to the other?

Definitely go for the 16', you'll get a brighter image with the shorter throw.

Thanks!

Or if you're a black level/contrast fanatic, go with the longer throw as it will throw higher apparent contrast, at the expense of brightness!

The difference in both light output and contrast over a 2' throw is so negligable I wouldn't even worry about it. Go with what is easiest to do and what works best in your room.

But you'll always think about that negligible amount in the back of your mind...

I vote brightness (closer) as well if both locations have an equal PITA factor.

I'd bet we are talking less than 50 lumens difference.

Yeah, it's truly a horse a piece, I mount it on one truss or the other. The conduit and power are right in between the two. Might as well take that extra 50 lumens.

There you go then. Case closed.
