Well, I do ho HDMI was virtually impossible to do for all the Meridian models....so, they went with 4 X SPDIF which would require a video split off. Don't buy everything you read. This was the simplest way to make things backwards compatible as there are multiple SPDIFs on Meridians and NO HDMI.
It's a good answer for you folks... but I just don't buy the 'its a better way to do it BS'. The hardware required such. Period. I've been at this game too long....
And don't get me wrong, this is a great thing for Meridian owners... A solution for HD audio codecs that allows you to keep your processors... I am just cynical towards all the manufacturers these days visa ve HDMI. Theta announced a solution for early Q#... What's that about?? I t might mean their is no solution or they simply haven't started on it it yet as they are weighing a whole new piece... Cary audio's newHDMI piece is a failure with many bugs and others like Lexicon, Halcro, etc have even announced anything. Where is the high end on this ??? MIA.
