Did you lose both audio and video? (You wrote "a/v" but I just want to confirm that.)

Is your BH200 hooked up directly to your display?

Yes but I think it was a scratched/pitted disc - I cleaned it before hand with an optical cloth but could still see surface imperfections on the disc.

yep, both audio & Video for several seconds.

I haven't tried it in my other player which is hooked direct but this was on my main BH200 which is connected to a DVDO EDGE VP and then AVR & TV.

Speaking of Zodiac... I'm going to HD-DVD... anyone else have video dropout on the extras disc *disc 2)? The interviews of the people involved in the real case? I'd lose video to the black screen often. I wasn't sure if it was by design or because of the player. I believe I took the disc off to a Tosh HD-DVD player an had no problems.

I think that's intentional. I'll check it out on my PS3 first, however.

I used to own this disc on HD DVD, and I remember the video dropouts you mentioned. I think this is intentional...kind of a dramatic pause in the interviews. Can anyone else confirm? I'll check my Blu-ray version of Zodiac though.

The video "drop-outs" on Zodiac's special features are intentional. I can confirm that they appear on my Blu-ray version using the PS3.

Ok the T2: Skynet Edition is officially the slowest loading, slowest response disc i've encountered. It took about a minute to get past the BD live then it gave me an error message about having a 2.0 player not hooked up to the internet, then it took about 2 minutes afterward just to load to the menu screen. It took forever to navigate some of the menu's special features.

Is anyone experiencing an issue getting 6.1 DTSMA to bitstream from this player? The package says 6.1, while the receiver read 5.1 and that's all it output as I heard nothing from my back speaker.

I've just about given up on all "extras" with the player. The state of Java virtual machines is pathetic IMO. I don't belive I've seen any java content working well on this player, but I suspect that may be fixed up a bit if profile 2.0 comes out, because I believe that will require a working Java VM.

I haven't seen that the player says 6.1 out, I was just about to finish up a 6.1 configuration in the bonus room. I should be able to report back on what I find out. So, you are looking for a DTSMA that's going out the optical port, right? I belive you'll be losing the DTSMA layer info and just be getting the DTS Core audio, and then it's a question of is the core data 6.1 or 5.1? If you don't know much about DTS audio format give it a look, it's a pretty interesting method to support may different audio streams on one disc.

Well, as you asked in the thread that got locked - yes, try the latest firmware. If that doesn't work, email LG and request a firmware update.

What firmware are you running?

had a new problem pop up this week, after some blu-ray and DVD movies finish playing, instead of going back to the menu (or it attempts to), i get a bright green screen and the player become completely unresponsive. only solution i've found is to eject the disc, then power cycle the player. strange that i've had this player a year, and this just started happening.

Can't a man not control his Blu-Ray player with violence? Y'all are brutalizing me!

Try the standard stuff, or have you already done that? Disconnect the unit for a couple of minutes and press the power button a few times while it's disconnected.

If that doesn't help try the reinitalizing the player (I've heard it can be done, I just don't know what that means). I know you can clear BR and HD-DVD data memory and maybe other stuff like that.

I just don't know if you want to do a restore to factory default or not. You'd most likely have to redo your settings if you do the reset to default. But, it may work.

Normal process for a menu on a DVD is simple process there really shouldn't be anything strange, unless there's some laser/pickup problem.

I meant that you opened a thread asking this question, but it got locked after you were re-directed here. Since you were asking the same stuff in the now-locked thread that you then posted here, I thought I'd reference it in my response because your original thread's question had a bit more detail.

You know a thread is locked by the locked symbol at the far left from the forum page, or because it says so at the top/bottom of the thread page itself. And there is mechanism to post into a locked thread - there is no reply button and no quick-reply area at the bottom.

So does the latest FW solve your problem?

Ah right I see.

No it doesn't.

Although now the film just shuts the player down, whereas before the upgrade firmware it came up with 'your player needs to be upgraded' etc etc

Firmware: Latest March 09
Audio: Direct (Bitstream) over HDMI
AVR: Onkyo 600

Disc: Terminator 2 (UK)
Issue: Loud speaker "popping". This happens ittermitantly and is not always repeatable. The pop is far louder than the volume setting.

Disc: Jimi Hendrix: Live...(UK)
Issue: Same as above, loud "popping" sound from speakers (varies which one, fronts, center, surrounds)

Anyone else? The only two things tieing these together are DTS-MA 5.1 soundtracks, and both from the UK... but I have the T2 from France (which is supposed to be the exact same disc as the UK) and does not suffer from the "pop"

Any ideas?

I had that issue with the T2 french import this week. I tried just ejecting and reloading, nothing changed.

Finally I shut it off, came back the next day (never took the disc out) powered up and watched the movie w/o a single pop.

I'm thinking you just may need to power cycle the player

Glad to hear i'm not that only one... and I only did the "eject and reload" method myself. I'll go turn the unit back on and see if it works, thanks

EDIT: YES! The power cycle worked... thanks again.

It plays fine on my LG BH200. I am using the most recent update, which isn't very recent.

I'm using the latest firmware March 09, I've tried pulling the plug and pressing the power button, no joy.

Player just shuts off after the Blu-Ray logo lights up and the time displays all zeros.....

You have the latest loader firmware too? This is the drive firmware, not the player's firmware. I thought the latest was 1.47 or 1.71 or something like that. It's listed in the firmware sticky thread.

For it to be shutting down would mean it's reached a catastrophic point, maybe also try clearing your blu and hd-dvd storage and maybe initialize and or reset the player to factory defaults. Anything to rule out any dumb thing the player could be doing on its own.

Cheers, I'll try resetting to factory defaults as I cleared the Blu-ray and HD-DVD cache without any joy.

When trying the disk with the firmware prior to the March firmware a screen came up telling me to update. The newer firmware seems to have made things worse, sounds familiar.

And the advocates claim this is a wonderful world of high def DVD.... idiots.

I just got two new Blu-Ray concerts with the following problems:

Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood at MSG: Other than "Play All" the rest of the menu is grayed out.

Paul Simon at The Library of Congress: Will not play True Dolby HD. When I try to play, picture but no sound.

Using Hdmi to a Yamaha 1900.
Both discs played fine on my Sony Blu-Ray player.

My BH200 has been having many video dropouts lately.

Using 03-04-09 firmware.
