Killing Nazir isn't part of the quest line, but it seems any npc important to any quest line cannot be killed. PS my apologies as I didn't mean to discuss anything spoilerish.

Yeah I kind of wish you could kill anyone. And if you kill someone who is part of a quest line, too bad, no quest line for you. Not being able to kill anyone and do whatever I want takes away from the open feeling of the world a little bit for me. I do understand it, I just don't agree with it. Wish I could play the game how *I* want.

I accidentally discovered a quest person this way. Some guy in a bar and I didn't like how he was looking at me so I tried to lop his head off with my great sword and he wouldn't die. Still not sure what quest he will be tied to later but I'm sure I'll find out eventually.

in the museum at markarth there is a display case in the middle of the room with dwarven arrows and a bow in it. there is a single arrow that is some sort of dwarven arrow of centurion? it deals 20 damage. I cannot select it to steal it any one else see this? i would really like this to farm it out in riften on the thieves guild.

Trust me, not being able to kill questline characters is a good thing. I spent many hours playing Morrowind (which did let you kill quest characters), before I realized I couldn't complete the game because I killed a quest character a long way back. Never played it again.

I thought that was a big part of the new radiant quest system or whatever the official name is. That the game can automatically reassign quest-givers based on if you had killed the original one before or even after getting the quest.

Only for "radiant quests", not the story heavy ones.

I do understand the need for it, I just wish it was my choice. Perhaps a warning would pop up mentioning that you've killed a main quest character and offering a chance to revert to your last save or something. But if I want them dead, then die dammit.

Speaking of Morrowind, does anyone here have a copy for the old Xbox that they would be willing to part with? My kids have turned into major Elder Scrolls junkies and must have all scrolls!! lol...

I did another leg of the main quest yesterday, but then went back to the other quests queued up. Avoided eating someone by aborting a quest. Just couldn't force myself to go along with the plan...

i'm over 180 hours now, just shy of level 50, and i STILL haven't finished the main quest!

i inadvertently picked a side in the civil war, not realizing that it causes a 'failed mission' for the opposing team. i'm not a hardcore achievement junkie, but i'm sure that would annoy me if i was (assuming there's an achievement available for successfully completing each side)

All the civil war achievements unlock when you complete either side.

Anyone else thought the civil war was kind of lame? Just mindlessly stormed some fortresses, couldn't tell who was who in battle. Didn't seem to have much going on story wise.

It is entertaining to go into the town and have everyone hate you though

I now own this on Xbox and for PC. I much prefer the Xbox controller however I love having 8 favorites options on the computer. I just started a new character on the PC (only level 5) and tried to be an Orc 2-handed brawler this time instead of a mage and am having a hell of a time. I'm going to have to alter my plans I think because every magician rapes me. I might have to work up sneak so I can attack for longer with the bow. I'm going to stick with it for a little while though and see if once I level up my heavy armor and 2 handed skill some more if I can find a way to overpower them.

Did you make and use a lot of potions when you were running as a mage? I am pretty much running bow, 2 handed and heavy armor right now and really needed health potions early. I still need them now (but better ones) since the high level mages with shock can damage me pretty bad.

As for me, I abandoned any 'mage' stuff many hours ago. My new Daedric bow gets 460 damage meaning 1380 from sneak plus 67 EACH of fire and frost. Dragon priests go poof with one shot. Dragons need maybe 3 shots. No WAY would I bother tossing any weak spells anymore. The Bound bow, however, is GREAT, with almost as much kill-power as the real bow. 100% discount on Conjuration using enchanted apparel makes it easy to dual-cast for extra duration.

As far as potions go, fast-travel everywhere looking for the Ultimate potions and just carry those, unless you NEED potions to boost Archery or something. Fewer potions mean more space for loot. If your Alchemy is high enough to make giant's toe + wheat potions worth more than 1000 septims, carry a few of those to trade. I leave all the Smithing and Enchanting potions right near my storage for those supplies.

I do carry a few scrolls but rarely use them. Just seems better to have them handy...

Totally depends on your individual character build. Space isn't an issue for me since I use light armor and have the perk that makes it weightless. I can carry up to 380, but I rarely ever have more than 250. Besides, if I was ever running out of room, I'd just dump stuff on my companion. Not just that, but if you have too much stuff, you'll never be able to sell it all.

So as a general rule, you want to sell stuff off as often as you can so that the merchants can regenerate cash and buy more stuff from you after your next quest. I suppose you could probably cheese the game, though, and just stand outside their store and keep waiting for a few days until they regenerate cash.

My mage character rarely uses potions. I'm 25 hours in and around a level 24 with that character and only ever need the occasional Minor Healing or Minor Restore Magika potions. I used more potions in my first 2 or 3 bandit fights as my Orc than I have in probably 10-15 hours as a mage. I think it's because it is easier to attack from a distance with moving targets as a mage. There isn't really any intermediate attacks as a pure warrior. I'm sure once I have those Daedric weapons it will be different but when you are just starting out playing as a fighter only is tough.

I stopped by a friend's house yesterday who is a retired Lt Col. Well he has a lot of free time, he's 400+ hours in, level 67, and has almost 500,000 coins. He has only done a few quest from the main quest. He is playing on Master since his weapons and armor are ridiculously powerful. He commented that the game has saved him money. He didn't start his car for almost a week when he first got the game and hasn't been to the casino in awhile. I remember the first time he played a video game. We were renting a place after finishing pilot training and I had the Dreamcast with Soul Calibur (or Blade can't remember). I left in the morning to go fly and he was up already up playing. When I can back late in the afternoon he was still sitting on the floor, sweat rings under his arms and wearing gloves because he had blisters.

SONOFABITCH. Ran into a bug where no tables/stations work any more. Arcane Enchanter, weapon and alchemy stations, etc. Had to reload to a save before going through Snow Veil Sanctum (Thieves Guild quest). I'll try going through it again and see if the bug repeats.

Finally finished the main quest line...absolutely brilliant storytelling (far better than Oblivion...which I also played forever). Between the soundtrack, visuals and storyline, it was very satisfying.

Playing on expert level. My dark elf is now level 55, dual wielding daedric swords at180 each plus dual enchantments, Nightingale Armor to legendary status, and a Daedric, soul absorbing bow named, The Grimm, that does 180 plus shock. There's not a whole lot that gives me pause anymore, and if there is, I just "shout" and slow time, so i can hack the opponent to pieces. Not many challenges anymore, but hey, I earned this. However, it is still a significant upgrade to Oblivion where I could be level 75 and get killed by a random bandit who just happened to have better gear than me!!! Just need to finish the Stormcloak/Imperial storyline. I figure I'll do that, then roam around a bit for random events, then retire the character until some DLC is released. Possibly run through as a Mage on Master difficulty until ME 3 or Max Payne 3 comes out....either way...fastest 100 hours of my life.

Ton's of moments that made me stop, think, watch, etc....bugs, problems notwithstanding.....loved EVERY minute of it.
