'Legend of the Seeker' - First run syndication in HD - Page 11

Can anyone with FiOS Extreme HD service please comment on whether they find WGN America HD to be a reliable (i.e., don't have to pad the Season Pass) source of Legend of the Seeker in HD (as opposed to recording it off your local in-syndication carrier)?

Why this show is on odd hours in the day?

It would get better ratings if it wasn't on at 3:00 pm!

Good thing I can get all the episodes in HD!

It is not presented by a television network, but rather is sold by its production company directly into syndication. Here in Boston, it is on the ABC affiliate. In New York, it is on the CW affiliate. In Cincinnati, it is on the MyTV affiliate. In Oklahoma City, it is on the Fox affiliate. Since the networks program prime time, Legend of the Seeker must necessarily be presented outside of prime time.

Perhaps, but since no national network thought it worthwhile enough to include in their network line-up, figure that if it wasn't on at, perhaps, 3:00 pm, then it wouldn't be on at all -- it wouldn't get any ratings whatsoever.

How is this show doing ratings wise for S2?
I cannot find any info.

About on par with where expected. It may increase as this season is definitely more solid than last.

Last year Ch. 2 had no HD and the episodes were delayed a week.

I'm glad that it is finally being aired in HD. I always wondered why KTVU would air Seeker and Atlantis in SD on late Sunday nights while ABC plays both Boston Legal and Lost in HD. These shows have HD masters and there is no reason to broadcast the SD versions. So many good shows on Sunday after midnight.

There is when you don't have the technology to capture the HD sat feed and play it out.

Or they could download the torrent and save the sat receiver cost & it would probably look better than their SD broadcast-
they could even have credits "Brought to you in HD by TorrentFreakReEncodingFool!"....

Sarcasm mode understood, but...

Torrents only appear after the show has aired on Saturday. Doesn't do the station any good after the fact.

That would kinda solve the obtaining of the HD, but they would still need to ability to play out HD.

Here is this weekend's timing sheet.

BTW, nothing new listed on the official schedule. It only goes for a couple more weeks. Hopefully they'll update it next week.

That may be, but the show's first day of possible airing is Saturday. My local market airs it late Saturday afternoon.

There is this owl that flies in and drops them on my lap. I do not question where the owl gets them.

Sorry about the delay in getting this posted. I was fighting the horrible distribution problems that Fox is having, while trying to edit Dollhouse last night. I then promply forgot about posting this.

The next three weeks are repeats, so no postings.

Probably not related to your specific problem but I had to find an alternative source for Dollhouse because of damaged audio and a gap with a color bar pattern inserted into the video ... and then Skiffy (SciFi - oops Syfy) and a number of other channels on local cable went black right after a movie, part way through the re-run of last week's Sanctuary and was off for about 12 hours. (the last time that happened they stayed black for an entire weekend)

Actually one and the same. You probably hadn't heard but Fox's new network distribution system has a nasty bug that causes all kinds of video and audio issues. The splicer can even crash.

New software is supposed to be loaded this weekend, if not already, as they've supposidly found the root cause of the problem. I damn well hope so.

Moving along at a decent clip, but I dont know if i enjoyed the last show in the arc.
Felt more of a filer unless something happens with this menders later on.
I disagree. If anything, I found this to be a bit of an abrupt introduction to the idea that Richard is having serious trouble controlling the SoT.
Then if that's the case is Shoda right? If nothing comes of it, then a filer, if they continue to have issue with SoT then yes it was not.

In the books, the point is made often that anger is the path by which Richard wields power through the sword, and there is a point in the books where Richard does indeed have trouble with controlling his gift, so perhaps that's what this new plot line is supposed to parallel.
Bah never got past the first book for some reason.

This actually ties into....

Richard's eventual discovery of his gift, and his little trip with the Sisters of the Light. It's through controlling his rage he begins to tap into the magical abilities he possesses.

I just started watching this via Netflix streaming and have been enjoying it. Of course, I was a big fan of Hercules and Xena so this was right up my alley. Swords, sorcery, monsters, and hot women...what's not to like?

I wonder how much the Sisters of the Light will factor into the storyline. My memory is a bit sketchy, but wouldn't that pretty much exclude Kahlan for a period of time? I doubt that they'd do that on television.

Yeah

it does seem like that's a different problem for TV. That said - they could do a 2-3 episode arc where Kahlan is on screen ~15% of the time. It's just such a massive part of Richard's character building - including some really important stuff like learning how to "dance with death" when he faces the blademasters, the challenge of defeating the sisters control, and his ultimate defiance.

I'm not holding my breath - the mud people never made it in and they are an integral part of the books. We'll see what happens...

Well I am just getting going on this show and all I can say is MordSith are frakkin hawt.

some are, some aren't, some are rather advanced in age.
