Driver pics!! Not the cabinets - Page 3

24 inches, as for the usable excursion - I haven't measured it nor did I inquire at the time of purchase. But it should be sufficient for my application.

So you mean to say that you've just been storing those great drivers somewhere, unused for six years? That's criminal. Or do you mean you just haven't looked at the raw driver pictures since you installed them?

They have been part of my current subwoofer system. I've been using all four about six years.

They crushed "Iron Man" last night. No lowering the volume in this video room !!

Ok, that's alright then. Still crazy, but to each his own. I need to watch Iron Man again now that I have a Tempest-X instead of a Dayton Quatro.

I just got tired of lowering the volume at Odb MV. I blew up my dual NHT 1259's and had enough. I blew up a B&W and my Velodyne compressed up into 25hz when pushed. Hence quad Tumults !!

Brahmas, Tumults, customs, 12" & 15" and a couple of 8s and 10s. I believe there are a couple of John's Stryke AV-12s in there. The 18s wouldn't fit in the pic.

In order: Tumult, Brahma 10, Koda 10, Koda 8, Koda 6, WR125, AV3

Lots of Koda 10's

When I get a chance I will take some pictures of a really rare speaker, my 10" Tumult.

That's so awesome, Steven. Back in the good ol' days. Hey! I think I spotted a 'Hurricane' in the back of that last shot.

Very nice. Good to see you around here Nathan. Is this 8" something custom built for you? Carlos wouldn't be involved in that would he? Details please!

Bosso,
That's a damn fine collection you got there.

Well its custom biult, but not for me, by me, still working out the kinks though, not sure if I will make anymore, not even sure it will be useable. I will know if and how well it works soon. Should have 20~25mm Xmax, but the Q ended up a bit high. the motor is underhung. Should take a ton of power though ~750 watts
post #77 of 172
Cool. I like the way the motor and basket looks. Are you machining that stuff yourself? Those can't be off of the shelf parts.
Yup motor and basket I biult here in our shop, coil/spider/cone are "off the shelf" parts. QTS is right around 1.0 FS 18.8hz and Vas 18L, inefficient quite linear though, needs some more air chanels inside the motor or holes in the former, its quite noisey right now, turned out not bad for an experement i didnt think would work at all, thrown together from scraps in the shop.

Just finished clipping a Crown CE1000 into it for the past hour or so, seems to take it well the coil is cool after a few seconds, the motor is quite hot though

LOL! Heck yeah. I wish I had the facilities to even attempt something like that. Looks like the displacement is there at least. How the hell did you machine the motor and pole piece assembly? Got any more pics? You're like the MacGuyver of bass.

Nathan, send me an e-mail about those. (And did you get my pics of the Tannoy cabs?)
Please PM me with the specs and price when you are ready,I would like to buy two.

Over 20mm Xmax! Quite impressive for such a smallish driver.

Sexy, purdy, mean looking all in one.
Nothing like shiny machined billet aluminum, major foamage and kevlar I assume.

Regardless of how it eventually spec's out, some serious 8" eye candy Mr. Funk...!

I thought I was crazy for using an 18' Solo Baric as a sub, but what do you use as an amp to power these guys

I use a couple of these because I went cheap to start out. http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHEP2500

I'd love to have a couple CE4000s or a couple PLX3602s.
