I need a sitcom/sci-fi'ish shows/talking head/some sports/rare movie/even more rare 3DO gaming/cheap set. Won't be using blu-ray on it for another 3-6 months, maybe less.
Ok I know most of the advantages/disadvantages between LCD/Plasma, but for me this maybe more of a pocket book/selection choice then anything else. I am looking for something in the $450-$600 range, but really under $525 out the door, shipped to my house type price. So I am betting you are all going to suggest a 32" or upping my budget right? I played with an Insignia or Dynex the other day at Best Buy it was a LCD, looked ok I guess, but really I think the Plasma's look better, a bit MAYBE at a slightly higher cost. Oh this will be viewed from 12-14' away. Right now we have a 4:3 Apex 24" TV, and just feed it Directv SD, but will run the cables to get HD up here once I have a HDTV, and the rare DVD. Down stairs I have a 103" screen with a Sony HD projector and blu-ray player, Klipsch THX Ultra 2 speakers, Epik sub, etc. You get the idea. I just need a set that is about as tall or taller in viewable surface then our Apex, and then of course wider; 16:9. So I figure a 32" would work, but a 37" would work even better, but then my budget! Ouch I know. So any recommendations besides raising my budget
