West Palm Beach, FL - HDTV - Page 301

Full-power RTV affiliate WHDT West Palm Beach, Fla. (DMA 38), today announced that it will change to Weather Nation this weekend. WHDT will carry Weather Nation as its primary feed in full HD and on its translators and mobile feed.

WHDT owner Günter Marksteiner said: "After three major hurricanes, the value of local broadcast television became obvious as nearly everyone obtained their storm information from this one source. With cable and telephone lines submerged for weeks, broadcast radio and TV were the only news source for most of the area's residents. As we face new weather scenarios every season, Florida viewers once again turn first to local TV."

RDTV seems to have abandoned its programming if favor of infomercials....oh well...

Why does Comcast carry this waste of bandwidth? Seriously what purpose does this channel serve? Does anyone actually watch it?

All of Freedom's TV stations, including WPEC-TV12, have been sold to Sinclair, who will LMA them until the sale is finalized early or mid 2012:

IRVINE, Calif. - Freedom Communications Inc., owner of The Orange County Register, has agreed to sell its television division to Maryland-based Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. in a $385 million deal that will leave the company and its newspapers free of debt, Freedom announced Wednesday.

The sale of Freedom's eight television stations, all of which are outside California, is expected to close in four to six months subject to Freedom shareholder, Federal Communications Commission and antitrust approval.

Isn't Sinclair the company that's been in a lot of controversial retransmission disputes and preempting programming because it doesn't agree with their political views?

Fun times ahead.

It seems Palm Beach Gardens, Port St. Lucie and the Treasure Coast have already had the upgrade with all the new HD channels. Anyone have an idea as to when the rest of us in Palm Beach County will get it? This is really getting old.

I live in West Boca and we rarely get any mailers.

Do any of you have the other Cisco or Motorolla boxes instead of the SA8300HD? If so, do you like one over the other?

Thanks.

I had the SA8300 and traded it in for a Cisco box. I then had to get two more of them before I finally was able to get an SA8300, which I still have. I did like the Cisco box because it seemed to operate faster; but I kept having shows not record; which was unacceptable. I do think that it will be better when the software is updated to get rid of the issues they have. It seemed to me like the issues were worse on the Cisco than the SA box.
I was reading that the SA boxes will not be able to display the 16:9 guide upgrade that will eventually happen so I wanted to see what else might be available if and when that ever comes around.

Thanks.
I believe the SA8300 also wont be able to be remote programmed when that is available to us. When the upgrade occurs, I will trade the SA in for the Cisco, since it should work properly then to. Hopefully.

I scanned in the Chanel Lineup mailer I got the wording on it is: "Beginning on or after November 15, 2011, many new channels will be added to the Xfinity TV Channel Lineup."

Do you find the video and audio quality for the Cisco boxes the same, better or worse than the SA boxes?
I didn't notice any difference.
Just picked up some Digital Adapter Boxes for spare tvs today - at the Palm Bch Gdns Ironwood center. While there, several people came in to exchange their remotes because they weren't working. They made an announcement that this was a nationwide problem and Comcast was working on it?

Anybody have any info on this? I haven't activated my additional boxes yet - wondering if it's worth the headache.

Don't ever bother calling Comcast to ask them about new channels. They never know anything as it is likely someone at a call center in Alaska. Hello my name Peggy, you have problem....
