St Cloud, MN - HDTV

I've seen a few people from the St. Cloud area post in the Rochester thread, so I thought I would create a new one just for us.

I'm currently receiving HD though Charter cable. I'm interested in people's experiences with Cable Cards, Clear QAM, and OTA reception.

I am also currently with charter, but am currently working on building a MythTV box and am looking to use QAM tuners if charter transmits on QAM. I don't know at the moment if they do in our area, but intend to find out this week. I will post my findings here.

Please update us, the SilconDust QAM/ATSC lookup tool, is not always up to date and completely accurate....

I'm getting the broadcast networks in Clear QAM, as well as digital music channels. So far I'm not seeing the expanded basic HD channels though. They're mapped to the same channels as OTA (PBS - 2.2, CBS - 4.1, ABC - 5.1, etc.)

11.2, 5.2? Any SD copies of the HD feeds, like 5.1 only in SD?

I have Charter Cable in Otsego (close enough to St. Cloud). My charter office is in Buffalo.

Using Dvico FusionHDTV7 Tuner card, and Pinnacle PCTV Ultimate USB tuner for QAM reception. I subscribe to only the most basic cable package (1-25), but use my HTPC to receive the digital SD and HD channels (Cheating). I even get all the music channels. I get a few movie channels in SD and one porno channel that looks like someone is playing them from a VCR.

I hook my Hitachi HDTV up via DVI-HDMI Cable and the picture and sound is amazing! The HD shows, and big games are killer in 1080i. Wasn't a big TV watcher until I set this stuff up.

I also tune in OTA, but obviously not as many channels. Usually only use OTA 8VSB to pick up KSTC-DT 45 for Wild games or some rare HD broadcasts.

If anyone else in my immediate area is doing this, let me know how it works.

I can't wait to see the changes after the DTV transition. Maybe more channels?

When I checked out the HD Homerun channel lineup for my area it says I should get FSN-North, but negatory on that...

Charter finally added VS HD channel 761 a few days ago

I did a rescan on my tuner cards, but no VS Channel here. My friend accross the Crow River in Rogers is getting both FSN-North HD, and VS in HD for free via QAM. Me mad.

Topics in this forum are for TV markets, not cities. St. Cloud is part of the Twin Cities TV market. Please take all further disscussion to one of the following topics:

Minneapolis, MN - OTA
Minneapolis, MN - Charter
Minneapolis, MN - Comcast
Minneapolis, MN - Mediacom
Minneapolis, MN - TWC

Until earlier today when someone dug this topic up, it hadn't been posted to since June 2009, just short of 3 years.
