Polk SurroundBar 360

After playing with the idea for sometime, I have decided to get a surround bar. And have narrowed it down to the Polk SurroundBar 360. I have found a few reviews that say it is a great product, but thats it, the amount of reviews on this product are extremely limited.

If anyone out there has one, do you like it? Would you buy it again? Would you go with a SurroundBar 50 instead, and why?

Also, placement...My 46" tv is mounted on the wall, I have 8' ceilings, with about 18 inches above the tv, should I mount it above or below the tv? Would it look out of place above?

Thanks in advance.

Installed mine today. Initial observations
Pros: Built like a tank
Simple setup

Cons:
Frankly I think it needs a subwoofer, Polk DSW400 coming in thursday
It does widen the soundfield, but I have yet to hear anything even close to 5.1 or any type of surround. I am waiting for a answer from polk on my speaker placement, mine is 8 inches under the tv, not in front of it as you see in many pictures. Frankly the bar sitting in front of a 56 inch tv looks horrible, under it it looks built in. I am ASSUMING bar placement is not that critical, but I could be wrong.

Like I said, this is a first impression, I will know more after the sub comes in, but for now, nice system, could use a tad more volume, not amazing with the surround, even though the wide open setup I heard at best buy was nothing short of amazing, but in my 12 X 12 living room, far less than spectacular. I'm holding out hope that I am doing something wrong placement etc.

My old 5.1 theater in a box $300.00 system sounded a tad better frankly.
More to come....

Thanks for the first impressions. Ive toyed with the soundbar idea myself(yamaha ysp) as I live in a small studio in NYC and its cluttered as hell in my current setup(6.1). Only reason I never pulled the trigger was lack of reviews, please let us know how it works out for you.

Hey Bara, I know your dilemma! I really toyed with the idea of the Surroundbar 360 for quite some time. I listened to it, the sound was okay. What bothered me was the power supply. It's such a small unit with a built in DVD player, which was useless to me because I already own a Blu-Ray. I made inquiries and nobody would tell me hands down what was under the hood from a pure power standpoint. Let's face it, we're not dealing with serious amps here. Anyway, I opted to go another route. Although I wasn't thrilled with purchasing yet another surround receiver, I bit the bullet and bought a Cambridge Audio Azur 80 watt per channel receiver. Got a good deal on it because it's been discontinued. The Cambridge is lower profile, has good quality sound and is built like a tank. I paired it with the Surroundbar 50, which I think is truly the flagship Surroundbar that they make, and my trusty Earthquake Mark V subwoofer. Let me tell you this is not a slouchy system! The bottom end is very commanding and the receiver is sounding sweeter with more hours on it. Granted, it's not a true 5.1 sound, you do get some illusion of 3-D, but only a true 5.1 can get it done in my book. I'm very pleased with this configuration and best of all, the receiver and Surroundbar equaled the price of the Polk 360! So I came within budget and sleep better nights knowing I have a true surround receiver! Sorry I'm neurotic that way. I also demoed the Yamaha units. They do a nice job of the surround feel, but I didn't like the clunky boxy design and it would have posed a problem for me as I have the speaker tucked under the plasma on a stand. Hope I gave you some ideas!
