Time for a new receiver?

I have a Sony 777ES receiver that has been wonderful for several years. However, recently the center channel developed a loud buzz that won't quit.
I have been going without a center for a couple months now and am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if its worth fixing or time to look for a new 7.1 receiver with all the latest bells and whistles. Any suggestions?

Upgrade. A lot has happened the last few years. The best is the Room Correction Programs that can dramatically improve the sound of your room. Auddysey XT is a great one that you can find on the Onkyo TX-SR805 all for under $600.

Thanks! I've heard a lot of good things about the 805. For a receiver under $600 it looks like a winner. I can still use the Sony for stereo only.

If you are willing to spend a few more bucks, you can get even more new features for room correction like Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume control. These features are not available on the 805, but are available on the 806.

I've heard that the build quality is not quite as good on the 806. Any truth to that?
