HELP: Problems with Remote Control of VSX 01THX

i'm a new member to AVS Forum, but i've relied on the great information typically found on this forum in purchasing a new VSX 01THX receiver. i've spent the last week setting up the receiver and i've encountered a number of problems. i've found workarounds for several of the problems but the one that continues to stymie me is the ability of the remote control to work with my different components. the manual says that i should be able to input a 3 digit code (provided in the manual) associated with my brand of tv and it should work with the remote. however, regardless of which 3 digit code i've inputed in the remote, it simply won't accept them and always gives me an error message. additionally, the manual says that i should be able to "teach" the receiver how to work with my tv if the remote codes don't work. however, it does not explain to me how this "teaching" happens. can anyone help?

thanks for the comment. does this mean you're having the same problem with your remote as well? have you tried to input the code and it doesn't work?

doesn't seem like other people are having the same problems by the lack of response to my post. hopefully we'll get others to respond.
