Best $500 retail fixed-frame or tensioned screen for INfocus IN83

Size should be between "100 and "120. Room is light controlled, although walls are all white. Viewing distance is 17 feet from screen. Projector will be placed near floor, likely in front of the viewers, below the bottom of the screen. I am going for some pop and wow, deep blacks, great contrast, great picture, 3d looking if possible. Just the best overall picture with all things (blacks, contrast, colors, real-looking) considered.

With all the info at hand there should be just one screen that stands above the rest in the price range and for my needs. Please advise, expert projection people!

if you are going to floor mount the projector, the High power material from Dalite will give you a nice bright image. However, the $500 budge wont work for you. Try Elite screens at that price range

If the OP bought a 100" Da-Lite Perm-Wall HP at an AV Science discount, he would get a fixed frame screen and it would be only a bit above his price.

I just got the dalite High power 106" model B for less than $300 shipped from the final click. Made my own fixed frame, very happy with the results. Image looks great!

What did you use for a frame and did you just staple the HP material to the frame? Did you line the frame with black felt. How much time and money do you have in this screen?

I made the frame with 4 pieces of poplar from home depot,I covered the frame with black velvetier (using staples) then used L brackets to attach the corners. I used window screen rails to attach the screen to the frame. Just splined it. plus some staples to secure it more. Doesn't stretch much. It's not perfect but the image still looks really good!

To hang it I used a cleat hanger from home depot. Was like $18 but worked really well.

Works great, I spent about 4 hrs building it and cost about $50 tops. The frame itself looks alright, not amazing but can't beat it for the price. If I didn't rush so much wraping the frame could've looked better. Also the poplar looks a bit warped towards the middle. Doesn't bother me that much but if I had more time i would try to straighten the wood beforehand somehow.
So in a scale from 1-10:
Frame looks: 7 / Screen Quality: 10 / Price value: 10

If you take your time i'm sure you can make a nicer frame

The high power material is thick. I wondered if it could be splined.
