1) when does the coupon program end? What month and year?

2) Is the last month to order a coupon the same as to use the coupon?

I have a friend who asked me and I was not sure. I promised to ask you guys in this great forum

thanks

From https://www.dtv2009.gov/FAQ.aspx , using a coupon, question 21

What is the last day to redeem coupons?
Coupons expire 90 days after they are mailed and will have the expiration date printed on the coupon. The last day to apply for coupons is March 31, 2009, or until supplies are exhausted.

So, roughly the first part of July 2009 will be the last days of the coupon box program and the last expiration date.

If you are worried about them running out, you can order one now and hold out for your second until later. I have no idea when they will run out, if they ever will. Check the official site for more info. Keep in mind the cards usually expire in less than 3 months after you request them.

I think this was in reference to the "or until supplies are exhausted." portion of the response.

The NTIA keeps track of the coupons (obviously) and gives a weekly update on where things are at.

See the statistics here

Look like 5.28 million coupons left of the Initial Funding and 4.51 million coupons left from the Contingent Funding (as of 11/11/08).

Assuming the rate of requests last week (149,231) continues you would have 65 days before they run out of coupons (so maybe sometime in January?)

(5280000+4500000)total coupons / 149231coupons per day = 65 days

Of course this assumes a constant rate of request (based on last weeks requests) which may change, and does not include the fact that they are running a 51.1% redemption rate. I believe the money from these unused coupons can be used to re-issue coupons but I am not sure about that.

Anyways... my SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) is..... January 16 for no particular reason (but it is a Friday and I like Fridays!) I think we need to start a pool going to see who can guess the day the coupons run out!.

So about one month is left for Cable or Dish-equipped homes to order coupons. After circa 12/15, they will no longer be able to do so.

My (2) cards expired about two weeks before Echostar's PAL box was released, so mine went un-used. I then ordered (2) "for my parents" and they've expired also.... To be honest, I'm surprised that the redemption rate is that high.
