USB cable made from cat 5e/6

I've got a couple days before drywall goes up and would like to run some sort of USB setup from the front of my room to near the seats which is about 15ft.
I hadn't thought of this earlier so I cant take advantage of super cheap monoprice cables as shipping would take too long.

Locally cant find any 15 FT A-A M/M usb cables at a decent price so I'm thinking run 2 cat5e or cat6 cables and later get some cheap cables from monoprice to harvest the connectors and solder them to cat 5e/6.

Would cat5e or 6 be better? would either carry 2.0?
If I don't have enough cat5e/6 can I just use some 18awg x4 wire?

I didn't see any usb cables longer than 15ft so I'm guessing thats the limit for USB without some sort of extender?
should I try to keep the cable from going over 15ft?

EDIT: found this - http://www.tinkernut.com/archives/143 where a guy splits a USB cable and uses cat3 i think to extend the cable. Now all I'm concerned about is the total wire being a little longer than 15ft, maybe even 20.

Why not just run flexible conduit with a pull string, so you can put whatever you want in later?

Cat5 USB extenders are available(simply google, many available), never used one, but should work okay. But I also second the recommendation to pull conduit. ALWAYS the most foolproof idea. BIG conduit.

And there's also some wireless USB solutions. Again, never used them, but another idea...

I would prefer conduit but since the run is a little over 25 ft im concerned the usb connection will be good. Also I cant find any conduit for a decent price locally for the amount i need.

My htpcs and receiver will be at the front of the room i just wanted a usb outlet near the couch for lazyness lol.

USB extenders and wireless options would probably end up costing to much.

In the end even if it doesnt work I've now got cat5e to the front if i find a usb extender cheap or can use it for whatever.

Really wish I hadn't taken a full course load this semester, would have had so much more time to plan, order things online, and install everything myself at a leisurele

I have used several USB extenders from this seller and they all work well. Seems like decent construction - at least the case is metal. Most extenders have plastic cases. You can get a USB extender for about $25-30.

Yeah, an extender will do best. Hell, i've had a hard time getting front USB ports soldered to a PCI USB 2.0 controller to work (on an older computer), and the ports were using SHIELDED cable, like what, 1 meter long.

Until i got thicker cables it just didn't work. I first thought it was my soldering but i realized that the signal is lost because of the cable, since USB 1.1 devices worked fine but 2.0 devices always produced "USB Device Not Recognized" errors.
