Retractable screens available to mount horizontally?

Do they sell retractable screens that retract across their length instead of their height? Imagine the "base" of the screen being vertical and it is opened by pulling horizontal (of course this could be done with any screen, but then the dimensions would be wrong). I checked a couple on-line prj screen stores and came up empty.

For my situation, such a setup would work better; I could mount it on a pole, and attach the far end to another one. Live in an apt, so damaging the walls/ceiling is a primary issue.

I know they sell ones that floor-mounted, but for my living room, that would be suboptimal too.

Also, issues like drape would be exacerbated in this scenario, but my screen will probably be only 70-80 inches, so I'm less worried about that.

Anyone know if this is done at all?

Ask Da-Lite to do a custom size with reverse aspect ratio (9:16 106", for example) with the Hi-Power material, but double check the vertical (which would be your horizontal) limit for seams. It might work.

Edit: The HP material is seamless up to 6 feet, so you would be "limited" to a 6 foot wide screen - a hair over 80" diagonal 16:9.

I really doubt it would work. The chance of sag in the middle will ruin the image as the screen will develop waves. There are some screen manufacturers (DaLite) who make screen which pull up from a base using a pantograph to support the screen when it's hoisted to it's full height but some of the models are not cheap.
