First off, I apologize if this question was already answered.
Secondly, I'm a newbie so please be gentle.
I recently purchased a used Panasonic TH-42pwd5 TV/Monitor off of craigslist. It was built in 2003 but appears to be in good working order. It has several input to include PC (VGA DB9), Component/RGB (BNC style), S-Video composite, and RCA audio.
I want to connect my PC/MAC to this TV/Monitor at the highest resolution so I can use it as my monitor.
I am able to connect my PC's VGA port (or DVI with an DVI-to-VGA adapter) to the 'PC' port and the resolution is OK but not great. The manual says I can go to 1600 X 1200 @ 60mhz but it looks terrible.
So I tried to hook up the DVI port on my PC to the BNC ports on the TV/Monitor. In order to do that, I had to purchase a DVI-to-Component cable and a couple of Component-to-BNC adapters
Unfortunately, that didn't work at all. I tried different frequencies and settings but nothing seems to work.
Does this setup even work? Is it a digital signal the entire way through? Does the signal get converted at all, if so, do I need a converter to make it work?
Does anybody know of a better way?
Any help would be much appreciated.
