I bought little things from them before but I would never buy a T.V they have a bad return policy. Just take the price to bestbuy and have them match it and beat it.

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may (after obtaining a Return Authorization Number), exchange or return the merchandise for a refund within 30 days of receipt (Less Shipping & Handling Charges. Restocking fees* may apply). All returned merchandise must be free from damage of any kind, and be in its original factory box with all original packing materials, warranty cards, manuals, accessories, UPC label intact, and any other included materials.

This 30 day return policy does not apply to televisions, any oversized product(s) shipped via motor freight (not DHL), headsets, Bluetooth items, satellite systems (Auto or Home - Including HDTV Receivers), car stereo merchandise, or open box/clearance merchandise. All Satellite Systems (Auto or Home - Including HDTV Receivers) and open box/clearance merchandise are Final Sale. Please note that 6ave.com is not able to accept returns of activated DirecTV products. These items must be returned directly to their manufacturer.

All Returns/Exchanges require a Return Authorization Number (RA#). Returns without RA#s will not be accepted. To obtain a Return Authorization Number, you must contact Customer Service at 1-877-684-2831. All Returns/Exchanges must be double boxed (manufacturer’s box must be inside of another box designed for shipping) with the RA # written clearly on the outer box accompanied by a note explaining why the product is being returned in the original merchandise box. There are NO refunds on Special Ordered Products. There are no returns or exchanges on registered performance plans.

Bestbuy and circuit city let you updrade or downgrade if your not happy. You might get a 2000+ tv home and hate it for any reasons or might want to get a sony ect... Up to you.

Reseller Ratings would sum up your experience.

I bought a Panasonic 42" plasma from them a couple years back and had a decent experience. In general though, I do feel like if it's worth the few extra bucks to buy at a brick and mortar for the refund and exchange policies and no doubts on the company honoring the factory warranty. If I saw a good enough deal from them again on something that was big ticket I wouldn't have any qualms ordering from them again.

6Ave will charge your card even when the product is out of stock. For TV's, I'd try Amazon. Right now, though, you may find a great deal locally.

They have been around for quite a while.
I've bought many items from them over the years but only through one of their retail stores - never online.

Just last Wednesday, I bought a Toshiba 37CV510, got a great price, and its returnable for 30 days for exchange if defective. However, being a TV of 32" or larger, it is not returnable for exchange for a different product if I were to change my mind.
So I had to do all my research and comparisons in advance and made my final decision before walking into the store to purchase. Which is exactly what I did.

In fact, the salesman I spoke with was surprisingly knowledgable with TVs (much better than in my local BBs and CCs).

So I'm happy with my experience, and my purchase.

I've purchased some av receivers from them. They are a good company. The returns TV policy isn't as open as some other retailers but they are an authorized retailer so the manufacturers warranty will be valid. Basically, if you're sure your ordering the model you want (and you should be with research) then they have great prices and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them, if you aren't sure then do more research or look elsewhere.

6ave is decent, not the best, not because of the return policy, which is common here in the NY/NJ area, but because they sometimes play the pricing game. I know when I go into 6ave I can't settle with the price they give me I have to negotiate hard.

Here in the NY/NJ area the only stores that have a return policy on large sets are Best Buy, Circuit City and a few high end stores. The rest including, PC Richard, JR, and Electronic Expo, have the same; you bought it it yours policy.

Heard of 6ave.com first when they've been running small ads at the back of audio rags...known plainly as Sixth Avenue Electronics. Bought some stereo accessories for the old man via phone then...when the internets were not "in vogue" yet in the early '90s.

But most recently (and the biggest ticket item to date) is this 32LG30 I bought from 6ave.com that I use mainly as a pc monitor for a sweet promo price of $538. No tax, no shipping...it beat my day's prior purchase for a less featured/spec $499 Samsung LN32A330 that had been shipped the next day via DHL from Fry's/Outpost.com that charges tax and a $10 CA recycling fee, $548 and change...

Totally a no hassle experience since decades past...the LG came also via DHL within 4 days (had to "refuse" my Sammy from the same delivery guy when it arrived the next week), and the box was clean and intact..my first teevee purchase via online was a snap!

Damaged Big Screen TV's-
All LCD/DLP/D-ILA mirrors that are broken during shipping will be replaced at no cost to the customer. Due to the nature of this type of television, this damage is not a cause for damage exchange. All televisions 37 inches and larger will be opened at delivery for the customer to inspect the unit for damages. After inspection, the customer will be required to sign for the unit, acceptance being that the unit is in new condition and undamaged. The unit is then non-refundable and non-exchangeable
.

Very bad news indeed, almost clicked buy it now with 25% off coupon on a 65" Aquos just now when this sent shivers up my spine. I work and the nanny can't inspect TV. Just like in Bulgaria, you bought it its yours, you grouch we kick your face.

So BB will match 6th ave price? I am looking to pick up a 32 inch Samsung and the difference is about $100. I would perfer to buy from BB.

BB will match 6th Avenue's price only if the item is in stock at 6th Avenue.

That is not true. I placed an order last week with them (1st time for me) and they haven't charged my credit card. The item is pre-order. In fact I'm hoping they will charge soon cause that would mean it has shipped
post #16 of 30
Their return policy is the reason why I didn't take advantage of their Name Your Price promotion. Even if the set has problems, unless you inspect it and see it right when the driver unloads the tv, you have to deal with the manufacturer for any repairs or exchanges. That is outright BS.
Well, I'm not too worried about that. If the TV is damaged during shipping, they will replace it or I will cancel the credit card charge - it's that simple, I don't care about their policy. Most likely it won't be damaged, and there won't be a problem
post #18 of 30
I just had a LN32B460 arrive from 6ave on Wednesday. For my first time ordering through them, I would do it again. The TV arrived with no issues at all. When I ordered it on 4/21 it was out of stock, but $50 cheaper then Amazon. I see now Amazon has it at the same price.

trjlangdon u joined a little over a week ago....do you work for 6ave cuz you sound like u are affiliated with them in some way. Not trying to call u out but it seems quite suspicious that u have only 3 posts counting this one around the same time that u supposedly made this purchase....a little hard to believe ....im sorry....how many plants do we have in this garden?
6ave is great when buying in-store and usually have one of the lowest prices compared to other stores.

When it comes to online forget about it only buy from officially Amazon (not their 3rd party sellers) when buying TVs.

6ave online and like others have a retarded return policy usually you will have to deal with the manufacture with anything with the TV.

Haha no I don't work there. I've been lurking around for awhile as I've been in the market for an LCD for the past few months and was eyeing the LN32B460. I registered recently because I wanted to post in a B460 thread

That's not what I mean. The driver is not going to sit there while you go through the tv and inspect every technical flaw or problem with the set. Obviously if the set is physically damaged, they have to take it back. I'm talking about things like clouding, terrible flashlighting, geometry issues, etc...You might not encounter some of these problems for days or weeks.

You are right. You're always taking a chance when purchasing online, even perfect return policy will cost you shipping which on a large set isn't cheap. And that's why a lot of people will only buy in store. I personally prefer buying online, I think it's worth it, the savings are substantial and I've been lucky not to have problems on my many purchases

I went by it. I would not trust them.

I did. Got a 50" plasma through them shipped via UPS. They shipped promptly and have said they would refund once they got my damaged return back. Yes it came with the glass cracked.

I am planning to buy from Vanns.

Vanns had no report on the above link.

What is so good about Amazon's return policy?

they will accept a return for any reason within 30 days you pay return shipping using their shipper, not a big amount of shipping charge, for exchange or refund....as long as you don't make a habit of it.

they will accept returns no return shipping chargefor damaged or defective sets for exchange or refund.

in both cases get a return authorization number from them, they arrange with the shipper to do the pickup.

just decide if the savings is worth the possible complications compared to local brickandmortar such as bestbuy's 30day return policy

read their return policy, look for the specialized rules for elec tronics/ large items

Anybody use their free curbside delivery? I took it for my delivery of a pair of rf83s. It says they were shipped out but no tracking information can be found. One good thing about them is,I sent them a email about my rc64 and they immediately sent me tracking information and sent it ups from jersey. It says it will be here tomorrow since it's coming from N.J. and I'm in N.Y. Tomorrow I'll give them a call a find out where the rest of my order is.

I dont know how it compare price wise, but you can try crutchfield.
They got a pretty decent customer service, they will work with you if something is wrong with your purchase.

Somebody posted a coupon for 6th Ave for 25% off Yamaha receivers. I picked out a $2400 receiver, it showed up as $1800 in my cart plus free shipping. I bought it, a week later it arrived and I've been happy every since.

Thumbs up from me.
