*Official* Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H Thread (NVIDIA 9400 mATX HDMI 8 channel LPCM) - Page 84

Sorry to ask thi but I have been off this thread for a while and a friend wants to build an HTPC ... and I love my GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H for a LOT of reasons ... but they seem scarce to find and CDW says they were obsoleted in late Sept.

Yet, it is still list on renethx's "recommended list" for Intel/NVIDIA mATX - is there something new and better immenient?

GIGABYTE's reply (Oct 23) concerning the successor to GA-E7AUM-DS2H is

Dear Customer,

Yes, this model has been discontinued because Nvidia announced the EOL. We will announce a new Nvidia IGP based motherboard very soon.

Thank you for choosing Gigabyte products

Thanks renethx,

What do you think with all of your experience - if I can find one, it still appears to be your top pick or when do you think a replacement will ship?

WOW, what a bummer - the channel just evaporated - it had to be a killer product for Gigabyte and only one year old!

Do you know who might still have stock since I am so familiar with this MB - the attached image shows nobody except Amazon for a ridiculous $271!

Is there a "rumored replacement"?

I've used Ecost and Insight before, not sure about the others.

WOW, I checked about 25 online retailers + contacted our local Silicon Valley system integrators who checked with the big distributors ...

NONE ... GONE ... Now what???

Anybody have an info/rumors - supposedly NVIDIA is the culprit by EOLing the 9400 on Sept 25th according to CDW???

I would think Gigabyte knew about this months ago and would have a replacement considering it was so popular and prominently featured on renethx's "recommended" lists!

Have a small problem with YCBCR and RGB on this board. When I boot my PJ goes to YCBCR instead of RGB. This also makes it default to YCBCR in Windows to. I do use DVI-D and not HDMI but still this problem. Is there any way to use this board with RGB to a PJ which autoswitches between RGB and YCBCR depending on what GPU thinks is right?

- The Thermalright doesnt have a vertical clearance problem with the Antec?

Please please please post pics

Thanks!

Hi,
I live in Europe, bought it at zercom.eu (shop in holland)
You can check out Petra's and performance-pcs, maybe the have it (beowsing on cellphone now, too slow to check for myself)

Overall I'm content with the Antec, it has a decent amount of room to work and provides good airflow. I did replace the stock casefans though (Noctua). It was however a bit too small to fit a full-sized Gfx card in (too low to plug in PCI-E power) and yes, the VFD display is crap, I disabled it -it was illuminating my whole living room even on the lowest setting...

I'll try to post some pictures, no vertical clearance issue for the HR-05.

Cheers,
K!

Try downloading and running memtest86, if that throws errors you might have incompatible or faulty memory.

Also, how do you check the temps of your memory? Do you have a special sensor for that?

Does this motherboard support 16GB? Anyone can recommended 4x4gb stick for this mobo?
Would these work http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-302-_-Product ? or are their cheapier ones?

index finger, or middle finger, whichever works for you! ;-)

memtest86 detected one stick to be bad!
This was the first time I really ran this tool, and the results seem to be pretty cut and dry, which I like! There didnt seem to be an easy way to tell which DIMM was throwing errors, so I tested them one at a time. I guess thats how it should be done?

I'm wondering since I bought them in a kit together, if Crucial would entertain the idea of sending 2 of them back? I'm afraid the other one of the pair is gonna take a crap as well

What are you doing with your HTPC that you need 16GB of RAM?

I noticed that Gigabyte posted a new BIOS, F4, so I loaded that up. For some reason, Memtest86 doesnt like this at all, and it just locks up.

I noticed after booting up vista64, that it installed a new 'NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller'. Not really sure if it was there before, but it updated it nonetheless.

Anyone notice anything new with this F4 BIOS?

i think f3a may have been a "beta" bios. f4 might just be the official...

it seems the "changes" are the same for f4 as they were for f3a.

i may install it this weekend to see if it changes anything for me.

here is a link for the motherboards bios page btw.

I have trouble with this new BIOS. I use GA-E7AUM-DS2H board in HTPS with MediaPortal (Windows XP SP3, MP 1.0.2, 4G RAM). After upgrade to F4 MP began to hang after a while. After downgrade to F3a all was restored. I found that in F4 the Video ROM module was updated, and in my config he don't work correctly.

Sorry for my English...

Any suitable replacement that you would recommend?

I am kicking myself for not buying one of these mobo's last month when I had it in my shopping cart but waited to research something, next day they were sold out

Thanks

Hey all, I may have a small problem with this board (bios F2) and Windows 7 [RC, 32bit].

Problem is Windows reports the chipset as NVIDIA GeForce 9300 not 9400...? CPU-Z and GPU-Z do too.

Any ideas why this is? I've updated to the latest nvidia drivers, with no change. Thought it was just windows not reporting it correctly, but looking through this thread (eg. 2nd post on page1) everyone else seems to have it correctly reported as 9400.

Anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
Steve
9300: Core/Shader: 450/1200
9400: core/Shader: 580/1400

What does GPU-Z report?
Ah good point - I'll double check tonight - but I'm certain I've only ever seen GPU-Z showing 450/1200

...Could this be a driver issue?

I found a place that has them (http://www.etccomputer.ca), I can get one delivered for $175US. Is this motherboard worth $175?

The only Nvidia 9400 mobo at NewEgg:
DFI LP JR GF9400-T2RS LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 9400 ~$140

Nvidia 9300 mobo's from NewEgg:
ASUS P5N7A-VM LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 9300 ~$120
ZOTAC GF9300-D-E LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 9300 HDMI Wi-Fi ~$140

Then again I could find a case that will take full height cards and skip on board video, then I'll go pound my head against the wall due to option overload figuring out a system. Oh will the madness ever end......

Personally, I don't see why you'd pay a premium for this board at this point. The 9300/9400 boards filled a need when they came out, as they had a decent graphics chip with HDMI audio support built in. But you can now get similar but more powerful graphics cards for $50. Honestly, if it wasn't such a PITA, I'd pull mine out and sell it to one of you who wants it, and put in a board I like better + a dedicated graphics card. It's just too much to bother with though.

I've just called them (I work in Toronto) and they do NOT have this mobo in stock.
They also cannot order it.
As for the price - the price would have been lower, unless you included shipping or something. I could have gotten it for $157, which I would have, should it have been available...

Geez, I thought that this was my lucky break - not that it would have been nice to grab the board before you..

Thanks for the tip. I wish they had it.

I just called them and it is NOT IN STOCK, just like everywhere else ... so, IF you got one, you were lucky!

I have called almost 2 dozen places and they are GONE ...

Renethx said a few pages ago that Gigabyte replied to him that they would "soon" announce a "IGP replacement"?

I am waiting to see what happens since this was a GREAT bord for many of us!
Bummer!! They are selling PC's with this mobo on eBay so emailed them yesterday, and their reply said order it off the site, which I was just about to do. Bummer

Ok, what is your suggestion then regarding mobo & graphics card ($50) that is comparable/better?

Thx,
Bob
