Good Job SS. Unfortunately, doesnt look like it did much damage, and that video is roughly 6 months old.

Gotta remember, the season that's on the air right now took place last December/January. I'm sure we'll see that same event this Friday, but through the eyes of the SS'ers.

Would be cool if the producers got footage from the Japanese to put into the show, to help show their side.

IIRC, the GPS shown on the bridge of the SI had a date of Feb 6 on the display.

A person from the SS crew is answering questions at this link.

You're right, went back and looked on the SS site at their press releases, it did end at the beginning of February.

As I said a couple days ago, the press releases are spoilers, though with only 1 episode left, don't think it's too big a deal.

Good, and often funny read.

This was mentioned there and should make next season pretty damn interesting:
Earthrace Joins the Fleet

also mentioned is $500,000 worth of repairs and upgrades to the Steve Irwin, including the addition of a powerful water cannon.

Holy Moly that boat is sexy.

They would be better served with a submarine vs. Earthrace.

Sweet ship. I'm looking forward to next season too. I hope their water cannon is more powerful than the Japs. And also they have stronger dishes for the LRAD.

They might have to use the same dishes till the contract expires. Then those people are so stupid they would probably get cable.

What they need is an Ice Rated Hull.

I'm glad they are stepping it up for next season. This is one of the most entertaining shows I've seen in a while. The SS seem pleased with the exposure they are getting. Unfortunately, I think they have probably polarized their opposition in Japan, and Japanese whaling won't end until the Japanese decide to end it.

Cool looking boot...but wouldnt a harpoon go right through it...doesnt look to "durable"

Major spoiler for those that don't want to know anything about the season finale. Hopefully, this part will be shown. Note the SS spin - it's so false, it's comical:

We haven't seen the last episode, but "Andrew" needs to remember that most of what they were doing, and especially anything "bad" that the whalers did, was filmed for all to see. He needs to be careful about any "stories" he tells.

Was there any doubt? seriously?

If it does, we'll see this:

I wasn't aware that the whalers were able to ram the SI with their stern. Is that like moon walking on water?

Typical SS media release.

I had to laugh when the capt did the interview after handing off control to the garbled-accent throttle guy and he proceeded to outrun the processing ship. Bravo!

IMO, Watson should be locked up a long time. He often spoke of his intentions to ram their ship. It should be a slam dunk case against him. The sad thing is I bet the procedds from this show fund these terrorists/pirates.

Funny, I started out watching this show, completely against the Sea Shepherds and their tactics. But after watching them for 2 seasons, I find that I've developed a bit of empathy for them. Maybe it's a voyeuristic TV version of Stockholm Syndrome.

I also find that I'm really looking forward to the next season's show.

The JP should now be able to treat them as pirates after they rammed there ship. That was a clear and malicious terrorist attack with an intent to harm. You can't say, I wanted to ram there ship but not hurt anyone. The SS crew is a bunch of dumb terrorist in my book and I loved how the feds were waiting for them when they docked! Even better were the looks of shock and surprise on the SS crews faces! IMO the JP have every right to protect there boats by any mean necessary after that incident. It is time for the JP fleet to get a military escort to take the Steve Irwin out (so sad that this idiot filled boat bears Steve's name). Best part of the show, the JP crews still got the whale on the main ship, even after the attack. There efforts did little to nothing to stop the JP, and that is the best part of the show.

Any sympathy towards the whales or the SS cause has been ruined by this show. I know most whale activist do not act in this manner but, this show has ruin any support that I may have had for them. I say to hell with them all if you are going to support these type of actions displayed by SS.

What would be good for both the show, & the SS Public Relations, would be for Watson to give a "serious" speech to his Entire crew at the start of the journey, (on camera), listing the things the ship & crew can NEVER do, even in heat of seeing a whale being killed ...
Intentionally ramming another ship,
putting another crewmember in serious physical danger,
putting any Japanese deck personell in serious physical anger.
It would be made clear All crew would have the authority to abort anything that seems to fall into this definition.
He then would then list the things they can do .....

As a side note, if they indeed will have water cannons next season, I hope they figure out a way to shoot/spray the Buteric Acid thru those hoses ...
It seems that even diluted, it can still do damage, & will be able to "paint" large areas of the Japanese ships ...

Some may look at it that way but many others will not. The one thing no one can argue about is that it has brought attention onto the JP and what they are doing down there whether you support the tactics used by the SS or not. With this show and all it's publicity, this is a win, win situation for Capt. Watson. You will not find too much sympathy in the world of animals lovers on the side of the JP's and I'm pretty sure that is the result they were hoping for.

Not likely they can add anything to the stream that wouldn't dilute to the point of being ineffective. The volume of water needed to get any kind of range is HUGE.

That is probably true, so what we will get is even more idiots going to try and do something. The people on that ship are complete morons, they started cheering when they thought they stopped them from loading an already dead whale, just to see the ship get it loaded anyhow. Once again all they did was FAIL.

The finale showing was pretty good, I did like the text at the end telling about what happened and the amount of whales they didn't get to their quota etc etc. Its meaningless in the long run cause it didn't stop whaling and it may never. The Sea Shepherds should lose the flag, they were told no throwing off the ship and did it anyhow. They clearly rammed the ship no matter what they say, the whaling ship looked like it didn't move and the Steve Irwin turned towards the whaling ship.

I hope they get busted big time for the actions, but I have a feeling nothing is going to happen that's major. I am on the side of the whalers, the people on that ship to me are nothing but eco terrorists. I hope the Japanese next season step up with really bass a$$ stuff like guns with rubber bullets etc.

I think the influx of cash they are getting is a testament to how the show is benefiting Watson - probably more so personally, than for the cause.

History shows us that left unchecked, the Japanese would likely decimate the marine mammal population. But as long as they stick to species that are not endangered and keep to the quota established by the IWC - there's no reason to support terrorist activities against their citizens.

I still support keeping the whale population at sustainable levels over any country's individual right to hunt them indiscriminately. But since the IWC seems to be handling that aspect just fine, I see no way that I can support the terrorist activities of the SS and no way not to root for the sinking of the Steve Irwin.

I agree 100% well said.
