That's the funniest part of the video. Slammed to the deck, swamped with sea water - then they get hosed just as they're trying to get their bearings back.

More boat bumper cars, or bumper boats I guess we can call it.

Agreed! The sound effect was like the verbal equivalent of yelling, "Douche!", after they just got owned.

I still think the case that the little Eli May (or whatever the F they call it) were rammed is pretty shaky. The physics are pretty clear on it- unless you got engine trouble, you get out of the way if you see a freight train heading toward you. This isn't basketball were you can just stand still and then call charging, and there is just no way a big ship is just going to steer around you in a cute zig-zag. If you left your plastic yacht adrift, right in the path of the big ship, then you intended to be hit.

It looks like the BB (team Sea Shepards) was trying to play chicken with the Jpn ship by attempting to speed across the bow. It got close, the BB made the decision to abort the bow crossing and turned hard right (sorry, I don't know those fancy maritime terms for "turning right") to avoid getting T-boned. Naturally, turning right means the rudder is pushing the rear of the craft left. Hence, the BB bounced its a$$ off the Jpn ship.

That's how ships steer, and that is why you never bring 2 ships that close to each other at speed. At the very core, the BB crew neglected to keep a zone of safety, and the result was inevitable. They got into an alignment where turning into AND turning away from the Jpn ship would result in a collision. There was no way out after they got that close.

The SS missed a golden opportunity here. Why classical music when they could Rick Roll them?
It looks like they have changed their PR strategy and are now claiming they are the one ramming the Japanese ships (not vice versa):

It's getting ugly! Only a matter of time before there is loss of life and at this point I don't care which side that may be on.

The Japanese only have themselves to blame if they lose a crew member to these morons. They continue to allow hostile actions to go virtually unchecked with only a proportional response. They should simply release a statement, and send notice to the SS organization, that any aggressive action taken against their fleet will be met with deadly force in accordance with international maritime law.

Just ignore any butyric acid or water cannon "attacks". If the SS place a prop fouler across their bow, they should fire a 50 cal. into their stern until they disable the SS's rudder. If that is unsuccessful, they should continue to fire into the ship's power plant until the ship is completely DOA. Same response if they get dangerously close and are attempting to ram.

It's kinda like if Tennessee, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, or Florida are playing each other, I hope the tornado wins.

Once they sink the entire SS fleet, I'll start rooting for the whales again.

Probably the best post ever.
In a perfect world, they could just install lasers or torpedo launchers on the actual whale(s). Now that could be an interesting show! ...or how about a nice nautilus ramming-blade on the forehead?

You know .....
A show Idea like this could spin off into a pretty good adventure/gameshow .... Pirate Tracker Wars
Film it in some 300sq mile Warm area of the Carribean or Pacific ...

Have 2 fleets of "Sea Shepard" type ships, & 9 Days. Film crews w/ each side, "The Prey" & the "Predetors" The Predetors have a Zodiac & stink bombs, The Prey don't. The Prey have Water Cannons, The Predetors don't ect ...

The object of the "game" is: Give the Prey a 24hr "head Start", They must locate, destroy & retrieve 7 big "Whale Balloons" , The Predetors 24hrs later, must locate the prey, & try to disable &/or distract the ships, & protect any balloons.. Prop foulers, stink bombs ... Leave it up to the teams to come up with their methods...
PM me for royalty / rights

The only problem is, both sides will have people with a decent IQ, and it definitely won't have quite the comedic effect as the SS'ers.

It doesn't nessessarily need to be a comedy ... Think "ManTracker" ...
Contestants would be various Outdoors/adventure/extreme/military enthusiasts, sprinkeled in with a few Reality "Boston Robs", has been Rockers & C List type Celebs for interest,
The Guest Capt & 1st mates of these ships could be Sig Hansen in the Alaska off-season, or Lobster Boat Capt, Retired Navy seals ect .....

Why screw with a successful formula? Do it in the whaling off-season and keep the SS crew a constant with only the acting "whalers" as the actual contestants.

Come to think of it, that's brilliant. Have the "hunters" hunting for something that is totally fake. It'll waste the time and resources of the SS'ers, kind of like what they're trying to do with the Japanese. Dolphins maybe?

Just lock him up and go about your business until you've reached your quota. Release him when you get to port and whoever picks him up covers his room and board.

Better yet, let the Japanese government put him on trial for piracy.

I hope they're still filming. This season is going to be great.

You have to have big nuggets to even attempt that and that is after he fell into the water once. Their not in the Caribbean. But he should of at least went with a machine gun if he wanted them to even think of taking him seriously.

An update on the SS boarder. Looks like the Japanese are going to prosecute him.

Brass balls and a lot of faith in the SSers ability to mount a rescue.

The Sea Shepherds have ended this season's campaign after the Bob Barker developed problems with its fuel valve. Meanwhile, the captain of the Ady Gil (Pete Bethune) is being transported to Japan and will face charges of piracy. If convicted, Bethune will be forced to eat whale meat and watch reruns of Flipper.

In case you haven't been reading about the recent Sea World incident, our buddy couldn't pass up the opportunity to inject himself into the story. Apparently he and the killer whale (Tilikum) go waaaaaay back:

By the way, I’ve met Tilikum. Way back in the 80’s, I toured SeaLand of the Pacific as a special guest of Bob Wright, the owner of the facility. He wanted me to see first hand what his business was all about. I sat by the pool and patted the big Orca on the head. I also put my hand in his mouth and put my palm on his tongue so he could taste that I was not afraid of him. I remember looking into the left eye of that magnificent predator, and what I saw there was resignation and sadness. He was not a happy whale.
