If you mean keystoning, you'll get varying opinions. In theory, it should be avoided if possible, and some people prefer tilting the screen a bit instead, but other people use a small amount of keystoning, myself included, and don't see any difference in PQ. I'll bet that if you did an A-B test, most folks would be hard pressed to tell the difference on an X10.

The image shift function (seperate from keystone function) doesn't degrade PQ, it just changes which pixels you are using to render the image. For example, it allows you to move a 2.35:1 image up or down in the 16:9 frame. This is useful for masking - you can move the 2.35 image to the top or bottom of the screen, and just mask a single letterbox bar.

I think that on some BR movies with more camera panning, 24 hz will look better. I do believe you'll notice this change but only on the movies that the jitter bothers you. I can easily have mine set at 60hz and play a BR without it bothering me a whole lot. I notice, but if for example I've got company over, I usually won't stop a movie just to change to 24hz. People usually hate that wrenching around while watching a movie (me especially)

Now, when watching dvd's, you won't leave it on 24 hz very long before you notice somethings wrong.

Here is my situation in a nutshell:

Just purchased an Infocus X10 to replace my 4805. I am also running a new Onkyo 507 receiver to replace my ancient Technics. The Blueray players are both Samsung (older and new models; new Xbox360)

Once hooked up according to manuals, the X10 will flip between "HDMI Input: Setting up Image" and "Searching". Each window lasts 1-2 seconds. Occasionally there is a flash of an image. after 3-4 minutes of this, the beautiful Infocus homescreen comes up. Have managed only 2 movies so far as a result.

Resolutions I have tried include bypassing the Onkyo (works, but sound is off), switching Blueray devices (no change), using the HDMI/16pin adapter (no change), using different HDMI cord lengths (supplied 5' and 15' - no difference), Xbox as a source (works, but not a real resolution).

When I press the "source" button on the X10 remote, I sometimes get the image in anywhere from 10-30 seconds, all the while, audio playing.

I returned the X10 to the POP and they exchanged it (apparently) to their supplier. I have a second one (apparently) and am having the same problems.

What I need:

1. A link to a thread where this particular problem is encountered, discussed and solved.

2. An resolution if this is the first time anyone has heard of this issue.

Thanks for any help someone can offer. I am big fan of this projector and this forum.

To prevent the projector (Infocus X10) from switching away from source or searching for sources, use the projector remote to bring up the projector menu.

Select "Settings->Sources"

Disable "Autosource"

Set "Source 1" to "HDMI"

Select "Enable Sources"

Disable all sources except HDMI (which must be enabled).

I had/have a similar issue using my MonoPrice 4X2 switcher. It only happens with my Directv HR-23 unit as a source when switching from my TV output to the X10 output on the switcher (auto source is turned off for me, everything goes through the dedicated HDMI port only). All I have to do to solve the issue in my case is power-cycle the HDMI switcher and the searching problem goes away on the X10.

I know it's not a solution but for my situation it's a simple workaround.

I will give these options a try this evening. Thanks for the help.

I also has a weird problem om my X10.
When using it with my Ps3 the color is "RGB"
When using my popcorn A-100 the color is "RGB-Video"
I´m using 0-255 on the A-100.
But what is correct?
Both are feed with a hdmi cable.

Btw i have just reached 1000hours on the lamp

I'm at 1507 hours.

Where are some good places to get lamps, both in the US and Canada?
I had some issues trying to us a monoprice HDMI switcher. Mainly with 1080p and having the X10 find the source. I tried the powered and non powered switches but still had problems. Glad monoprice has a good return system.
I finally simply ran a second hdmi cable to avoid using a switch.

Respect

I also want to know a good place to get lamps.

1000 hours (without using "High Power" - hopefully that will give me a bit more than 2000!) and counting quickly...

Didn't try them yet (probably still have until some time next year left on the current one), but this is the cheapest I can find online:

http://www.myprojectorlamps.co.uk/pr...-LAMP-032.html

Despite the .co.uk they are actually shipping from the US...
Nice find, and here it is for Canada (shipping is cheaper). Click on the little US flag at the top for US.

TD is way more expensive.

This page has a comparison of a few places, with electrified.com selling for a lot less than other places, but there have been some bad reports here on AVS about them selling cheap knock off lamps, so I don't know...

I have a friend who is in Washington now.
Is there any good store there to bye a lamp?

I'm using a media center PC with a blu-ray drive with my X10. I've had the video card refresh rate output set at 60 Hz since I got the projector a couple months ago. It looks good, but not quite as smooth as I would like with 24p content. I haven't had much luck with setting the output to 24 Hz with a 24p blu-ray. It still seems jittery. Is there anything else that could be wrong, something that would cause the projector and PC to be a little out of sync? I didn't see anything in the video card settings that would be causing this.
I've got three 1080p settings on my NVIDEA control panel. Try cycling through yours, applying changes, then trying another setting.

My wife left the projector on over night when I went to turn it off this morning it hasn't powered down in over an hour. The green light is blinking and the fan is still running.

Any ideas? could it still be cooling prior to powering down?
No, they usually shut off in about a minute. Maybe two. Even in summer, I never see mine on for 5. As long as the lamp was shut off, you'll be fine turning off. if the lamp is still on, that's not good. Call tech support at InFocus.
I ended up pulling the plug and letting it sit for about an hour and it came back up fine. May have been heat or I may have just had a brain cramp and done some combination of things that made it wig. Still working like a champ though.

Anyone figure the new Mitsubishi coming out under $1,500 might be an improvement over this one?

The bulb just died in my X10 after 5 months of use. Last time I checked I think I had hit 300 hours or so. I seriously doubt it made it to 400.

I see conflicting info about bulb warranty. The Infocus site says 6 months on one page and 3 months on another. Yet, the page for purchasing a new bulb says 6 months. Either way, I suspect they will be good about this but it seems strange that with me having the pj on a UPS that I should have a bulb fail so soon. I see people talking about 3000-5000 hours on these. I've run on econo mode since day one. I think I tried normal mode once to see what it looked like.

Worst of all, I just bought a new AV receiver the day before yesterday. Now when that gets here I'll be projectorless

Methinks it's time to get an extended warranty on this bulb from Infocus. It's only another 6 months, but, if this is going to be the norm, better safe than sorry.

Anybody else get really short life on their bulb?

I'm at 1938 hours and crossing my fingers I can make it through the holidays. Have you thought of trying this place? http://www.myprojectorlamps.ca/proje...-LAMP-032.html

What my machine did was switch to 25hz even though I had selected 24hz. Check in the X10 menu for the actual frequency it's displaying. I don't remember how I got it to work, seems like I just kept fiddling with it until it switched to the proper frequency. I may have gone to the custom resolution setup and defined it again. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it's been a while and my memory fails me.

In how many months?

Um, April.

It's hooked up to a couple of HDD DVDRs and an HTPC and I use it for everything every day.

Hope it goes well with the lamp. I think you will be first one who can report on how long a lamp lasted for the IN8x series...

I'm not looking to buy right now, but I'll bookmark it. Reading around the forum though, people seem scared of aftermarket bulbs. For >$100 I would probably be interested, but for 60 bucks, I think I'd buy from InFocus and get double the warranty.

Well, as soon as my bulb is replaced and I can see the menu, I will be able to tell you that mine didn't last 400 hours.

And, a call to InFocus tech support today and yesterday was fruitless. Something is wrong there cause I got a message saying "Due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot take your call at this time... Please leave a message and bla bla bla.". So, of course my bulb would go on the day they are having technical difficulties with technical support.

"Fruitless" is a very polite way of qualifying InFocus support, as I recall from my X1 days. Good luck.

So this all has got me thinking that if I use my X10 this much, I should once again give it a good cleaning, especially as it's been getting a tad noisier in the past few weeks. I followed this fellow's handy procedure, and right away on striking it up afterward, I do notice it's quieted down a bit.

Niiiiicceeee! Yea, that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I've never had difficulty calling in the past, but this has now been 2 days that I can't get through to them. One was a holiday I admit. Still, today is black Friday, you'd think someone would be in.

I didn't have a dust issue, hell mines not old enough to have dust on it! I had seen that before though.

I thought I should stop back and mention that Infocus, once I got ahold of them, was very helpful and has a replacement bulb on the way to me under warranty. The extended warranty is a bit pricey, like ~$160 for 6 additional months ~and $250 for extension out to 2 years. So I don't think I'll be doing that.

They evidently were not in over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Of course, my bulb died early Thursday as that's the worst possible time for it to do so (Murphy's law). The new one will arrive Wed after calling them Monday, so I have no complaints.

Just thought I should mention a good experience, since we normally only say things when it's bad.

//Edit
That guy on the phone told me wrong. That's to extend the warranty on the projector, not the bulb. The bulb extended warranty is $49 and I'll be doing that for the extra 6 months.
