I will be setting this up to play 360, watch Blu Ray on PS3, and watch HDTV with Dish.

Also, how is Vizio as a name/company? I have an Olevia 323v. The PQ was great, but now the TV has an issue where it takes 10 minutes of pressing the power button to turn on. I have dealt with it for 2 years now, and will not get a larger TV and get rid of the problem with this Olevia. Should I expect problems down the road with Vizio? I do not have the money to buy Sony or a Samsung for 22" at the same price as this 26". Thanks

Three years ago vizio was seen as a small company that would not survive 6 months against the big boys, sony, samsung etc. Guess what today they are the #1 selling brand of LCD tv's in the usa, not bad for a small company with big dreams huh. The vizio va26L is a nice little tv for the price, i've since returned mine for the vo37L, i wanted something bigger for movie watching in my bedroom. How is vizio as a name/company, i bought the VX37L 720p about 18 months ago and it's been great 0 issues to date.

After a disappointment with a Samsung 2333HD, I am returning it to get a VA26L tomorrow morning. The 2333HD is missing something, as it has way too much noise and grain compared to my old Olevia set. Hopefully the VA26L is better.

Those with sharpness on 4, don't you find the PQ ugly?

I LOVE it at this point. For a bedroom set, it is fantastic. I do gaming on it, watch TV in bed, and use it as a monitor. You might have to play with the settings a bit. If you do get it, try these(I use them and it looks fantastic):

Color Temp normal
backlight: 40
brightness: 50
contrast: 45
color: 48
tint: 2
sharpness: 0

everything in advanced video is off
edit the RGB settings as follows:
Red: 128
Green: 128
Blue: 128

Thanks Lkr, yeah I went and checked it out again tonight, very impressed with this little guy, very nice picture. I played around with the settings, left everything on 50 had the tint on like yours and had the sharpness on 2 as well, all advnace off. I liked the picture alot. I'm going to get it.

How do you like the speakers? From what I heard in the store they sounded actually pretty good. I was surprised, I was expecting very tinny but not the case but that was also in the store with alot of different noises going.
So how are the speaker in your opinion. Thanks

the settings im using for my VA26L were actually from a recommendation for the VO32. If you haven't calibrated that, try those settings.

When i had the VA26L a fews months ago i was happy with the PQ on HD channels, and yeah the speakers sounded pretty good for stockers. They had a very nice full sound even at low volume levels not bad for 5W speakers, i paid $368 back then @ samsclub vs. the current $328 price. It's a nice tv for the price, i think you'll be happy with it.
Thanks Viziodood, yeah that's the impression I got. I was shocked because on my VO32L(720P) version I got last year, the speakers actually made me laugh they were so bad. The PQ on the VO32 is fantastic, the sound, well that was a different story.

The price is now down to $317, which is a really nice price.

Thanks Viziodood for your observation.

Yeah my only quip iwth Cnet's settings is the backlight, to me it's usually too low and too dim but for color reproduction they are spot on.

My dad picked this TV up today for my mom (birthday friday) and it was $347 at our walmart. The walmart website says price varies by store. I didn't think it would be that much. Where are you? We're in VA.

Walmart in MD has it for $299! Going to pick one up today I think. I already have a 42" Vizio for the living room and this is going to be my bedroom tv.

I'm thinking about picking up the same set for my bedroom. It's the same price at Walmart in TN. My only concerns with it are viewing angles (when I lie in bed, it'll be about a foot higher) and lack of audio outputs. I might want to hook up some speakers to it.

Yeah the viewing angle seems to be a problem for some people that own the VA26L, it wasn't an issue for me. However the lack of audio outputs no rca or optical, was a deal breaker for me and the main reason i returned mine. Some say you can use the headphone output for external speakers, but that wasn't a good option for my needs.

Does anyone have settings through hdmi with good black levels?

The VA22LF is available at target for only $299.99. Very tempting for me since it has 2 HDMI inputs.

I saw these at target for $250 for the VA22LF.

I was looking to get it for a computer monitor and the TV, but I can't really find any decent reviews of the thing.

My wife and I use this TV for both a TV and a computer monitor, and We have no (big) complaints.

I picked it because I needed something in the 22-26" range with either 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 for up-close computer work. At the distance we view the TV, any of the 720p sets would have been fine. I almost bought the 26" Vizio Computer monitor, but I learned that while it had speakers, and a volume control, it had no remote control, and that made it useless for a TV - I don't need a tune since I use it only through a Tivo.

For a Computer Monitor, it works basically flawlessly. I'm still working on getting it to not overscan when hooked to the computer through a DVI to HDMI cable, but overscan is not a problem with the RGB port. On the flipside using RGB since it's analog, sometimes we need to use the 'auto-adjust' feature when games and things change resolutions frequently.

As a TV it's great. I have an older Tivo on this TV through the component connections - no HDMI on this Tivo - and the picture is so good that things recorded at the Tivo's 'Basic' compression really look horrible. Whereas on my older CRT you had to look hard to find the 'errors' that compression introduced.

My Son also uses it with his playstation and that looks great too.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it does, thanks!

For the monitor, is the text sharp, or does it get pixelated?
Also, what about ghosting/smearing of fast moving images when hooked up to the computer?

Thanks again for the info.

Just set up my 19" Vizio and I cannot see to get the time correct on the Program Guide. No matter how I juggle the Time Zone (Eastern) and DST option I always seem to be off by 1 hr (showing 9:30 when it s/b 10:30).

Any ideas.

Thread Starter
Great to see this thread lived on. I recently dug out our VA19L after a move and fired it up. I had not seen the CNET settings but tried them and they do look pretty good. Still impressed with the OTA HDTV image quality on this little thing for a $200 flat screen.

One thing I do notice is that when the backlight setting is as high as the CNET one, the edge of the screen has a light halo around it, especially on dark/black screens. It doesn't usually bug me on regular content, though.

In some references above to picture settings like Movie: aren't most of the picture adjustments fixed for the preset picture modes? I think Custom is the only one mode that allows user adjustments. Or maybe there's a difference between the 19" and larger models in that respect.

Just picked up the VA26 on Saturday at a Chicago area Walmart. Price on the TV is down to $249. Seemed like a great deal to me. Very happy with the picture quality although as someone mentioned earlier in the thread you need to be eye level or above with the set or the picture really becomes bad. I am using a terk indoor antenna and am able to pick up a great number of OTA HD channels so I am guessing the tuner is pretty good.

Got mine for 248 at Walmart tonight. On the TV display section it was listed at 347 but they had a pallet of them on display for 248 so I got one for my son for Christmas. Hope it's a good one. I couldn't believe it was so inexpensive! There's 22 inch TV's that are more than this.

Don't worry, your son will love it. Just make sure you hook it up with QAM, OTA, or have paid HD service of course.

I am considering using a dvi to hdmi cable for the monitor. on my old olevia, that didn't work too well, but I don't even know if that TV was HDCP compliant. Does anyone have experience with DVI to HDMI for computer?
