Hey all, if you've got the Ebay PA 120, it seems like there may be some discrepancies between the ebay photos and the actual sub. Can you tell me:

What are the available connections on the sub to the AVR (speaker inputs, mono RCA input)?

Is there an adjustable crossover dial on the sub, and or volume control?

Do you know if it has an auto on/off capability?

Tried and no lick. I've bout 11 items using the cashback and maybe they are lowballing me just before I reach the 12 item max limit. I'll just wait awhile until they put it back up to 25 - 30%

I got mine today. (black) Box looked good, seemed unopened. Took it out and it looked great. Wiped the top down with a damp cotton cloth and I noticed some issues on the "plastic" part. Basically on the top and on the bottom front lip. There are light scratches which arent a huge deal but then there are these two spots where its hard to explain, but it looks like a "sticker good" or something on the plastic, but its not, its smooth, but you cant clean it off. It's really weird. I contacted the seller (ebay) and I'm not looking forward to talking to him after reading this thread.

Unfortunately we're finishing a home construction and I cant test it, but it looks like it should work, and its very heavy/well constructed. Hopefully it sounds good. The problems appear to just be cosmetic and hopefully he works with me.

I can help some people out though. On the questinos on the back panel. Here is a cropped photo of the back.

Let me know if you need any other shots, I took a few just in case the seller wants some photos (although its incredibly hard to photograph this thing, its very reflective).

I'm glad I bought this when I did, I got it for $160 after rebate back when Live was at 30%. I still haven't hooked it up yet, but I'm sure it'll be up to par, especially when considering it's price.

Just finally got around to hooking up my system which consists of:

Panasonic 50" Plasma 720p
Denon AVR-1909
Energy C-500 fronts
Energy C-100 Center
Energy C-R100 Surrounds
PA-120 sub

Got a lot of Tweakin' to do and for starters, I can't find the manual for the PA-120 so could anyone recommend what settings (primarily for the Phase and Crossover) to use. I will be running Audysey which should set my crossover for me - so should I leave the sub at the lowest freq setting?

It fluctuates, and quite frequently here latley. I suspect that it will go back up soon. I've seen it disappear for an entire weekend and then come back at 25%. I'm not trying to predict what it might be though because this is the first time I've seen it so low at the current 8% level. I've seen it hit 15% a couple of times before though.

Can't figure out what MS's intent is with the changes.

Well, It weighed nearly 70lbs shippped and was in flawless condition. The build quality and attention to detail made me wonder how in the world I could have considered the PE sub-120. With the high gloss top, even my wife loves it! But how does it sound? Well, compared to the sony HTIB sub I was using, it's amazing. I don't have a db meter & I can't tell you how low it goes, but it handles old school Majic Mike, Dynamix, & Bass Boy with ease. I'm guessing the 24hz bottom is about right, and it rocks in the low 30's.

Man, for $160 shipped (that great 30% live.com) it gets and "A". I'll be watching "Iron Man" on Blue-ray tonight & i'll chime in again.


p.s. If your sub is facing the same direction as your mains, then the PHASE should be set to "0". If it facing opposite your mains, set it to "180".

I got my pa-120 last night. It is for Christmas, and my wife is adamant that since I bought my own gift I have to wait to open it, but I snuck it out and gave it a test run. (had to make sure it worked right, had no problems, blemishes etc.. before I left feedback on fleabay, and I suck at waiting.) Put Lord of the Rings, Balrog scene in the PS3 and prepared for subwoofer glory. When the fellowship is coming down the stairs, and then the rock hits the stairs and destroys them, I thought my house was coming down as well. My ears were bleeding, well that may be an exaggeration but you get the idea. I didn't have time to mess with the settings. I just set the crossover at 80 the phase at 0 and the volume at 6 as recommended. packed it back up and put it back away. Cannot wait to mess with placement and settings on the 25th.
The music of LOTR sounded so fresh and amazing. Wow.

The cherry made me nervous, the black was backordered, but it looks really nice. Not cheap or shoddy. This sucker weighs around 60 pounds. My old onkyo is like 20 pounds. World of difference. Very glad I purchased.

Oh- I ordered at 11pm and had a tracking number the next day before 9am. That is amazing, especially after some of the talk about the guy's service.

oh, as far as that goes he shipped mine right out, and was pretty speedy about emails and such, even doing things on weekends. He sent the wrong sub, but he sent it right out! haha (ordered the cherry, got the black). If anything in terms of speed and communication he was better than Outlaw. Just not super friendly and has very poor people skills if you actually contact him in any way as opposed to just a straightforward order.

The PA-120 really is a steal for an entry level sub I'd say, and if you're not trying to shake the foundations it is actually pretty hard to hear a difference between it and the 3x as expensive Outlaw LFM-1 EX I purchased after buying the PA. I'm really having a hard time deciding whether or not to send the Outlaw back and just use the PA.

Flyinrazrback, let me know what you think. My 6 year old PB12 fried last night watching Dark Knight. I felt like I lost a member of the family. I'm thinking of ordering this sub and I'm sure this sub is a definite step up, so I'd love to hear your opinion.

I just got done watching the Dark Knight on BD, with the PA-120. I am running a Denon 2809. It hits a lot harder and more crisp than the PB12 did, a huge increase in sound and performance IMO. For the $$ its hard to beat. I first tried out Hitchcock, and was not very impressed, but that movie has horrible sound effects IMO. The Dark Knight brought my system and this sub to life. The quality is also very good. I would buy it again.

Hey flyinrazrback, what wire or wires did you use to connect this? I have an Onkyo 606 and was just curious what connections I would need to purchase to get it running. Thanks for your help.

I have this tss 1100 sub by infinity would it be a step up to go with the PA-120 or do i need something better? my room dimensions are 12x16. Any help would be appreciated....... Thanks!

Good to hear the other reviews...my is sounding better everyday. I get tired of hearing all about the better subs for more $$$, when this is well made and a deal.

As far as your infinity, for starters yours is 250 watts vs the PA120's 650 watts...I'm not too technical after that...just my ears

Just took mine out of the box, haven't had a chance to do anything other then look at it. The top is messed up, in the area where the foam from shipping sits What happened with anyone else on this site who had this problem? Did he replace it?

Other then the slight marks on the top it looks and feels really solid. UPS Delivered it two days earlier then they gave as their delivery estimate!! If I'd know that I would have delayed my watching of TDK by 1 day so that could have been the 1st movie to try it out on.. maybe i'll just watch it again

My wife came home and said "I don't even want to know where your planning on putting that..." I didn't have a sub before this, so I can't wait to hear how much it adds to my movies! Planning on hooking it up tonight after work to give it a try. Now if only time would pass faster...

I'll have to snap some pics tomorrow when I get a chance. I plugged it in and tested it out on some scene's from TDK and WOW!!! Very happy with the additional low end provided by the sub. Still messing around with the crossover settings and my phase settings. Also need to look into the placement in my room some more. Unfortunately there are really only two spaces in my room the sub will fit, and one of them is about to get filled with a Christmas tree for the next 3 weeks...

I guess if I find that the sub sounds better where the tree is gonna go, I'll have to deal with sub par (no pun intended) sound for the next couple weeks

i think you're probably more likely than not to get some scratches/rub marks in the "piano black" just from shipping. I have "piano black" trim in my car and it's impossible to keep it from having scratches. These can be polished out if you have a mind, even easier on the sub which is supposed to be a multilayer hand rubbed laquer finish anyway. Do a search on a car forum for a recommendation on what to use.

Okay, admitedly I coming from a pretty pathetic setup (Bose Acoustimass w/ cube array), but I just got the PA120 sub and WOW. Hands down best purchase I've made in my current setup.

I just got rid of my Bose speakers, a Yamaha HTR-5540 receiver and Mits RPTV. I spent days researching on upgrades to the home theater, trying to balance price/performance. I bought a 52" Samsung LCD (A550) and sony BDPS350 blu ray, got an Onkyo SR606 receiver, Athena WS60's wallmount speakers (LCR), and added the PA120 to complete my 5.1 setup.

The sub shipped immediately and looks INCREDIBLE (cherry finish). After running the Audyssey setup on the receiver, my wife and I just sat on the couch in amazement at the sound. We are hearing things we NEVER heard before from the Bose cubes and acoustimass. The bass coming from the sub is incredible, and while I'm clearly no "audiophile," I can't imagine being any more satisfied by a higher-end sub. I have NEVER played movies just to listen to the sound, but boy-howdee how things have changed

I think all of you who are waiting to receive yours will be astounded at the value. WooHOO! Thanks to everyone on this site who allowed me to research all of my purchases and put together a great value home-theater!

Watched Harry Potter "Goblet of Fire" last night. The soundtrack wasn't very heavy on the low end but the parts that had it sounded amazing. Spent a fair amount of the movie adjusting the crossover and phase settings to see what I like best. I think I need something more bass heavy to really try and get my settings right, Tonight I hope to watch something with a bit more oomph to it.

Man, hearing everyone's good reviews I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. I placed my order for the black version when it supposedly isn't going to be back in stock until December 19 or something like that. Although I got a UPS tracking number last week with an estimated ship date of today. Here's to hoping it goes out early!
