Ok...the main/surround/center speakers (Energy C-100 and C-C100) are in and I jsut got the new AV receiver (Denon AVR-888). Sticking with the old TV and other audio components (will probably by a lower-end DVD recorder), but the big hole remains the sub...right now thinking about the Energy ESW-10 but I must say the PA-120 here is intriguing me.

Questions:
1. How long has this sub been available?
2. Why is it seemingly available at so few places?
3. Why doesn't it show up on Premier Acoustic's website?

I'd like to stay under $200 so the PA-120 stretches me a little, but if it is that good for the money, I don't want to short change the rest of my investment. However, with the questions above, I am a bit skeptical.

Thanks for any and all words of wisdom.

Sweet! Now I KNOW there is something wrong with mine, because even when watching U-571, mine never does anything near that!

1. 4-6 months.
2. The importers, 2 brothers, sell direct via their websites and ebay.
3. He has not updated his website. This http://www.premieracoustic.com/buyno...red+Subwoofers was the original sub until it got updated. Sound Distributors, the sister company has it listed: http://www.sounddistributors.com/buy...red+Subwoofers

does anyone get any port noise coming from the sub at about 31 hz and below. I have about 12" of breathing room for my port. I can plug it, and it will go away, of course if i turn it down it goes away. It really sounds like there is a whistle going through the port from too much pressure/air.

i can say this is my first real sub, ive had some HTIB junk and this one rattles my walls! i had a few problems when i first set it up, i was disapointed. but i set it to the specs on the directions it came with(dont do that). then i came on here and read a few posts on what other people did (set-up). It sounds awesome now! i would recomend it to anybody. the guy i bought it from sounddistributors on ebay, said that the price is going up in march.

^^ From Basstonics, "Bass, I love you" Some tones are not even heard. But you can feel the amount of air it's moving through the port.
Appreciate the reply. What's even stranger is that the "reviews" on the Sound Distributors website date back to 2006...but I guess that's for a previous model.

This is decision week...we will see if I bite the bullet (darn it, where are those 15% off ebay deals now?).

Mine had some port noise when I first bought it but played around with placement and settings and it sounds better than ever. I've got a huge living room that opens to the kitchen, office, dining room and hallways. I probably could do better with a HSU or SVS sub but would have to pay hundreds more. For the price of this sub I am VERY happy! I just watched Lord of the Rings The Two Towers and was amazed at the bass I never knew existed before now. I mean the wing beats of the Black Riders dragon were awesome. That is with the sub 17 feet from me! It really rattles the wall behind where the sub is placed. My wife says she could hear things in the cabinets rattling.

I got mine in yesterday. I think I need to mess with it some more. My room is tiny, 10x10 with 11 foot high ceilings. The only time i got this thing rattling my wall is when it was in the left front corner. But then it was localized, i could clearly hear it coming from the left. I have it now on the inside of my front left speaker. Its set to 100 crossover (receiver won't do 120hz crossover, only 80, 100 and 150) and volume at 7.

I was thinking this thing would bring down my room since the room is so small. I did notice that it was getting a little better as the night went on but nothing crazy. Now is that just me being stupid or is there a break in period with these?

Set your receiver to 80hz. Set front speakers to "small." Set the crossover on the sub to max. Right turn at 5 o'clock. The gain knob to "1 0'clock." Adjust it from there. You can always turn up the gain until you feel it sounds good. What receiver do you have?
I have a Panasonic SA-XR55. I have the speakers set to small already. I'll try what you said when i get home from work. Thanks for the help.

I've been reading the manual for the panny and there is a dual program option, it lets you change where the LFE channel goes. It gives you the option to choose Main, SAP or Main+SAP. There is a chance that I may of turned it to just Main when i got my new front speakers (athena as-f1's). So i'll try messing with that also.
some of the issue may be room acoustics, from what I understand a small, cubic room is the worst for acoustics. The wavelengths of the lowest bass frequencies are longer than 10ft so you may be getting some serious room nulls. When you play a bassy track, walk around the room and you should find that the quality/quantity of the bass varies significantly. Keep playing with positioning...

Does anyone know if either of the two ebay suppliers have these in stock or if they are waiting on a shipment?

You can call them. They answered on the first ring when I called.

I have an onkyo 606 and my receiver set the crossover for the sub at 120hz. I see you suggest to set it at 80hz. Am I missing something?
the "sub" setting is NOT A CROSSOVER. leave it at 120, this is explained ad nauseum in the Audyssey thread. Don't feel bad, it's a huge source of confusion.

I gave a fuller explanation two pages ago:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...5#post15746895

in Onkyos, the only crossovers that matter are the ones on the speakers. Leave the Sub LFE at 120.
Well i'm an idiot. As it turns out I was right about having the Dual PRG function set to just Mains. I switched it to Mains+SAP. I'm glad to say this thing is insane now. Its hitting so much harder and the clarity of the bass is nutz. I'm so glad I picked it up now. I played through the Killzone 2 demo and it was shaking the room good. I'm giving a run through Iron Man now. I'm sure i'll spend the next week dialing it in but at least its running now like it should!

I thought I'd add that this thing in black looks very good. The top has a nice reflective surface to it. It also feels extremely well built. Thing is very heavy to say the least.

Thanks for the help batpig. I actually just finished reading your explanation. I have all my speakers crossovers set to 80hz and my sub is set to 120hz. Thanks again.

I received my pa-120 monday a week after ordering it. So far impressed with the build and finish. Got the black and it matched perfectly with my energy speakers c-100, c-c50. Have it hooked up to a 1909 . It's not really outputting much yet. Im guessing my manual settings are off. Ill try audyssey and see what happens.

Nice setup, but I'm curious about one thing. Looking over to the far right of the room I notice some weights...and I'm wondering what you use those for?? Dink ups? Toe curls??

Congrats...I have the 789. Please post back with how it works and sounds with your 1909.

I might be picking one of these up...thanks.

I ran a 15Hz-150Hz test tone from my DVE calibration disc, and I'm getting a weird flapping noise from the sub in the 20Hz-40Hz range. After 40Hz it goes away. Maybe because I plugged the rear port?
Well, does it go away with the port open?

That's the wife's work out plan.

I can't really tell because it's hard to hear anything because the bass rattles all the decorations on the walls when the plug is out.
