They told me to expect the rebate in about 2 weeks, but the rebate for store display unit I bought for my daughter from BB for $99 (no remote) arrived in 6 days. I guess LG really doesn't care what you pay for the machine. Even after buying new remote (yeah I went with the OEM LG remote), the net cost of this unit (and remote) after shipping for remote and Calif taxes for BH200 is around $70.
OR $100 if you count the warranty.
I purchased my 1st BH200 over the summer for retail...around $600??
The second I purchased for myself just after Christmas, new unopened as discontinued model from BB for $249.
And the last was the display model another BB had sitting on the shelf with a price tag of $299 for $99 (well I did get their extended warr for $30, so technically still $129). I had talked they guy down to $129 initially. I told him about this forum and how others were buying open box units for around that price around the country and it took little effort to get that price. I think they just wanted to be rid of it.
I had gone to the BB in my scooter for other reasons and couldn't take the BH200 home right away so I went off to about 4 other BBs in my vicinity (nice scooter ride) to see if I could score a remote. I couldn't get a remote, but the manager of one store told me to see if the other place would lower the price to $99 and include the $30 extended warranty because BB likes to sell the warranty. He said that most likely if it broke, they would replace it with the newer model LG player with comp specs if it wasn't an easy fix. I'd lose the HDDVD ability, but for the price I thought it was was a great deal and since they don't tax the warranty it was actually slightly cheaper. So thats what I did.
Thanks AVS for all the great info.
