The room dimensions are:
15'(w) x 21'(l) x 9'(h) (middle of ceiling)

The back row is on a 12" riser so the ceiling height is 8'. The double drop soffits around are about a 12" drop. So if you stand under the first soffit on the upper riser, its about an inch over 7' and about 18" deep. Then the next step, is 6" up and 18" deep until it hits the star sky.

Danny

Beautiful Theater! Out of curiousity, what color is your rope lighting? From the picture, it looks orange or amber.

Thanks!

Also, I've read your Mavromatic blog on and off over the past year or two. Weren't you at one time creating your own Hollywood Star for the entrance? Talk about a WOW factor

Thanks! The color of the rope lighting is "white" but since it is incandescent, the color is really warm (yellowish). I didn't want LED lighting because those tend to be a cooler (blueish) color and most cost effective LEDs are not dimmable.

Yes, I did recreate a 1/2" size Terazzo Hollywood Star... turned out great.

nice job!

The last I read I think you were trying to recreate the brass/copper insert material. A photo of it definitely belongs with your completed pics due to its uniqueness!

Great Job!

Beautiful! I really like the wall panels and the colors. Again, well done! BTW, we have the same projector.

Great choice on the JVC... I have a great discussion going on over at the CRT where the NEC XG I replaced is pretty much worthless... go figure.

Very nicely done. I love the contrast of the starfield against the earth tones. Really makes it pop.

Here are more specific details, including the size (10'x12')

Great! Thanks, I was curious as to how it was done. If you get a chance, I would love to see some detail about the soffits. Its a bit hard to see with these pics, as well as the "light-on" pics.

I do like the size of your ceiling - most other I've seen are of a smaller scale!

Sweet design and execution Danny, I really like it. The wall panel color along with its border and the curtains/chairs really came together nicely. The star field looks like magic--I bet it's awesome sitting in there.

Can't wait till I get curtains... I'm jealous! hehe

I'll try to dig up my Sketchup drawing of the soffits... what exactly do you need?

Thanks! We really enjoy it... plus if the movie is terrible, looking at the "sky" is both very relaxing and entertaining!

I was trying to see how you were getting the lighting effects, but I can't tell if it is just how it came out on camera. I am planning on doing the two tier thing, with crown on the bottom tier and rope light resting in it. It almost looks like you have 2 tiers of crown, with 2 rope lights.

Yes, you are correct. There are two tiers with rope lighting resting. I wanted the rope lighting loose in the channel so I can get a more "organic" effect like glow of clouds. You can tell in the photos of this effect... the rope lighting is in/out and not in a completely straight light -- this is by design.

The soffits are intergrted with the wall/sheetrock, so there is no crown molding. They are 6" overhangs with 6" rise and 6" gap. I'll take some photos so you can see... hard to explain.

Super Sexy....I especially like the ceiling and the border right under it.
Danny, did you ever take those photos? I sort of get it from the sketch-up, but a photo would be worth 1000 words

Thanks!

Regarding your star ceiling, what did you do about screw heads attaching it to ceiling? Did you just paint them? Also, did you do any kind of border to keep light from spilling out from the backside?

Thanks!
