Thanks.

I found a Jasper at Wal-Mart. The build date was 0842, but it lists the 12.1 amps and has the split (-- --) plastic in the power connector. I do have a 175 watt power supply, but I am confident that this one is a Jasper.

If the split (-- --) is on the top inside the actual power connecter of the console and the sticker reads 12.1 amps on the 12V rail, then yes sir you have a winner !!!

I have the same config (including the 175watt power brick). Part of me prefers the larger brick as I believe it will work less hard to power the rig.

I wouldnt believe its a Jasper until your 360 jumps up and bites you in the azz.

Then and only then. Will I believe its a Jasper.

He's got a Jasper. Let him enjoy it as not many can find them (those that know to look). A friend of mine traded in his PS3 and is (unfortunatly) sitting on a pile of Gamestop credit b/c they haven't gotten any Jaspers in yet.

Sweet! Does your new Jasper run quieter?

I went looking for a JAsper today at GAmestop no luck.

all said TEAM:TEMA or TEME or some other team which is just a Team of people who repack older 360's in new Packaging. Build Date was 8-22-08 NOT 10-23-08

I will keep trying for some reason, I really want one with HDMI mow HDMI 1.3 I think and 65nm CPU and 65nm GPU.

Should be quiter and less heat.

the ones with Sonic on the box should be a Jasper.

I know as soon as the $40 extra offer expires I will regret not getting a Jasper.

Heck the more efficient Watt power use will be significant in itself.

my current Power supply brick is listed as 203W and 16.5A that would go down to

150W and 12.1A W(watts) A(amps) now at least the lights won't flicker when the 360 powers up and feeds on all that juice.

(on a side note no Wonder so many Gamestops have been robbed lately they just lay on the floor unsecured 10 PS3's and 10 360's as they do inventory on the main store floor)

So having the Sonic game might guarantee having the Jasper model?
What about the SEGA Superstar Tennis? Would that be the Falcon model?
I have been trying the Walmarts near me and none have had a Jasper. The Gamestops are useless. Both GS's tell me the Jaspers aren't out yet. One of them also said they have no idea how to tell since you can't open the box.

If you work in a game store you should read up on crap to know what you are talking about. The search for the Jasper is wearing me out!

I had to return 2 Falcons, both stated lot 843X FDOU, 10-23-08. Both had physical memory cards, 175W bricks, and rated 14.2.

I then bought a FDOU 843X, built 3 days earlier - 10-20-08 - rated 12.1, and came with no memory card, and a 150W brick. Let's hope this batch isn't more crap.

You can tell from the box. I learned this after having to return the first 2 Falcons. In the window on the box (serial number, born date), push the console to the right so you can see immediately to the left of the born on date. You'll either see 14.2, or 12.1. More than likely, you'll just be able to see the last number, "2" or "1." Go for the "1."

unless it says TEAM FDOU or Team CSON don't buy it

also unless it says 12.1A don't buy it

Hmm... then the BestBuy in my area has all Jaspers then, because there was a ton of arcades on display and you could pick them up and look at the box and see the actual lot number, all were team FDOU.

I bought one yesterday looks like i have a Jasper!

i personally can't wait for the first Jasper to RRoD, then people can wait for the next version, and the next version, and well...

i mean really, people with launch 360's that still work fine must be cracking the f*** up right about now...

Depends. The DVD ROM spins loud just like everyone elses, but I install all games to the HD so it doesn't really matter to me.

When you turn it on, the fans on low sound like a falcon. However, after 4 hours of COD4, the fans never reved higher then when I turned it on - they stayed on low - must be directly related to the decreased heat output from the GPU.

So the answer is yes, but only b/c the system doesn't call for higher fan speed (in my experience).

Team has nothing to do with it at this point. The best indicator from the outside of the box is the amps to the left of the sticker of the console itself.

Absolutely Jaspers will RRoD. Not all RRoD was heat related (though most were). No other console is 100% reliable and neither will the Jasper 360 be. However, folks should have a markedly increased comfort level with one as the main culprit for failure has been addressed (GPU heat). Everything fails eventually - I can live with that.

I actually feel the opposite 5.1.6. I get tired of the RROD threads, and would love to see an end to it. I use my 360 just as much as the next guy and have experienced RROD twice.. but its no where near as horrible of an experience as some people make it seem.

It would be nice to know there is finally a 360 available where it isnt a concern. That why those whining about it can shut the hell up.. and those really concerned about it can feel secure.

Where would one look for the Team FDOU or Team CSON tags? Can you find them without opening the box?

Team tags are on the sticker on the OUTSIDE of the box. The Amp readings are on the sticker of the console INSIDE the box. You can make out the Amps if you fight w/ it a little bit by looking in the flap.

Thanks Jopopsy. I will be on the hunt for a jasper this evening. Here's hoping I get lucky!

so would i, but come on now, after 3 years and 4 versions the 360 is still built like a you know what and pretty much everyone knows it. yet, people still buy them every day, sometimes replacing the 360 system that just broke on them. sure, i HOPE it ends, but i think by now that pretty much everyone in these forums KNOWS that will more than likely NEVER happen...

I was assuming that the tennis game is the sonic on the cover is this not true? Do they have a new sonic centered bundle out?

Again I have to disagree. With every revision the RROD numbers have been going down. I would say the original 360 was atleast 50% defective. The Falcon units have reduced that number greatly.. to what I believe is 5-10%. Hopefully the Jasper lives up to the hype and solves it for good.

I think you are looking at it the wrong way. YES. Their has been 3 years, and 2 major versions of the 360. But Yes those revisions have improved things.

Keep this in mind. A company doesnt take a $1 Billion write off on a defective product unless they are serious about fixing the problem. Every RROD costs MS money one way or another. Either thats a unit they have to repair under warranty cost on their dime and/or thats another RROD horror story written on the internet and spread by word of mouth keeping future 360 sales down.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out MS.. needs to put an end to RROD for good. ESPECIALLY before they launch their NextBox. Consumers need to have confidence that they have truly found & solved the problem.

My Jasper console puts out about 1/4 of the amount of noise that my launch console had. Much quieter at idle and much quieter DVD drive.
My launch 360 finally went RROD after thanksgiving.. I think it took some bumps from being relocated for family use. Next startup was the failure.

I did some research to try and find a Jasper when I went to buy a new 360 arcade. I visited about 5 different stores and I didn't find a single Lot # that was as high as 0843X.

I think I got lucky finding the jasper..

I ended up getting one at Target, manufacture date 10-14-08, Lot 0842X. 12.1Amps on the back console sticker

green box with sonic tennis stickers.

175W power supply and 256megs internal memory with no external memory card. box is marked 256megs memory, is there any changes between that marking with the internal 256meg memory jasper units vs. the 256meg memory card instead?
so it looks like only the arcades, with no external mem card, rated at 12,1 A(mps) are the jaspers. I looked at two arcades with the sega/sonic game; both were rated 14,2A and had an external mem card with them and had Team FDOU on the box. I assume b/c of 14,2 they were NOT jaspers.

I tried two different gamestops in houston, neither had the 12,1A consoles. Just keep looking now, I guess.

Check the power connect input on the back of the 360. Does the plastic piece near the top look like this -- -- ? If it does, you have a Jasper.
