If it was me I would go for one of the 2013 Panasonic Plasmas that are being discontinued (full disclosure I have 2011 Panasonic - else I would be getting one of the 2013s)

) and I doubt their image quality / value will be matched for some years. They start from the Panasonic TC-PS60 with a MSRP of $829.99 according to CNET.

I will likely get a 2160P TV - but only once the technology has matured a bit.
That said I do understand the appeal of $1400 2160P TV - will be interesting to see what the reviews are like.
