24p native- can other 58" Plasma's do it besides Panasonic?

I am looking for a 58: Plasma

I just came back from 3 stores. I do not know if there is some kind extra bonus for sales people right now for Panasonic, but each seems to be saying

The Panasonic TH-58PZ800u had a better picture over the top rated consumer reports Samsung PN58A650.
because the Panasonic can do 24p native reproduction.

Is this true? Is it important for my PS3 Blue Ray?

I read through all the post trying to fingure this out, all I could find is some posts on "jittering" in the Panasonic in 24P mode, is that true? Is it going to be fixed?

2 of the 3 stores said the Pioneer was better but its out of my price range
I wanted to place an order today, but the marketing hype is confusing me.

i would not pick a display for the 24p mode. particularly on the panasonics as you have heard its pretty much broken. they may fix it with firmware but imo the 24p mode is much ado about nothing. i own a 151 pioneer with 24p and a bluray player but still 60fps looks as good or better with most content including 24p blurays. i assure you i have spent hours watching 24p content and compared both modes.

having said that the panny you are looking at is a beatiful display. my brother owns one and the picture quality compares very favorably to my 151 and only lacks a bit of black level. also, i still own an older 600 series panny and my experiences with panny customer service was the best cs experience ive ever had.

Personally 24P on a Plasma is pointless, it's mainly a LCD thing. I would buy the Panasonic over the Samsung though!

No, as this years Panasonic have very annoying flicker when displaying a 24Hz input. Better luck next year.

It should be noted that not everyone sees the flicker. Some do and some don't. It is not a simple case of there always being flicker. It seems to also depend on the player and the source material and one's eyes.

Why would a company release something when there is flicker? Surely they beta tested the product.

Any words on a Firm Ware patch update or a published list of players and Blue Ray movies that do not have the flicker?
I would think Panasonic would have something like this posted on there web site but I cant find anything.

I have searched far and wide, and learned little about 1080p/24. Hate to start a new topic, thot I'd try here.

I have a low-cost Sammy plasma (450 series) and feed it forced 1080p/24 from an HD-A30, choosing film mode=auto on the Sammy display. This seems to improve the HD movie experience (smoother), but can find no reference to Sammy's implementation of 24frame (48Hz, 72Hz, ?). I do not perceive 'flicker' and 30fps movie-background segments look atrocious, as you would expect when on forced 24.
Does anyone know what method Sammy used, is it correct / accurate?

I called Panasonic about the 24p flicker and they denied that it was a problem. Said it was a problem with my PS3?

I know every one has this issues, but how will Panasonic ever fix it if they do not think there is a problem out there. Do Panasonic Blue Rays not have this problem on this TV?

I trust my own eyes and when I was in a store watching the TH-50PZ800U, I saw flicker (in 48Hz mode but not 60Hz), and it's a well known issue mentioned in almost every review of the TV I've read. True, some people are more sensitive to it.

As for the Samsung plasmas, it's almost certain that it only operates at 60Hz. If someone is seeing improvement on the picture after switching to 24p output from a DVD/BD player, it can be attributed to better video processing on the Samsung TV to handle the telecine/pulldown (than the disc player).
