I want to become a calibrator. Where do I go? What does it cost? How long does it take? I'm in Springfield, Il... any ideas?

It's a two day seminar. I believe it is still priced at $1,200.00. Successful completion of the test and obtaining proper instrumentation is required to be listed as an ISF graduate.

Greetings

Bear in mind that the course does not teach you how to be a calibrator. You teach yourself that part. It gives you a good foundation on what makes proper images. Calibrators learn this skill one TV at a time.

Thinking that this is some magic job to riches is a mistake ...

The course and associated travel costs will run you $2500 ... and the equipment will be another $4000 to $20000 depending on what you buy. You can't just sit by the phone and wait for it to ring though ... it won't.

Calibration is easy ... marketing is hard.

Oh, so very true!

Yes, I absolutely agree. A person with home theater as their #1 hobby helps, as does a big dose of self confidence and determination.

i calibrate as a hobby.. do maybe 2 calibrations a month if i'm lucky.. Since it's xmas time there are more customers calling... I'm getting more referrals.. A lot of it has to do with the service you provide... I've been getting a lot of referrals lately. I like calibrating.. it's fun... and like someone mentioned above, you learn the very basics during the seminar, but you really learn a lot when you do the hands on! Good luck... i took the ISF seminar not long ago.. feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.. i'll help you out as much as i can
