Hello, last night the ps3 said 2.53 was here so I had to download it. Now upon booting, theres no sound. I am running my ps3 to my onkyo 606 then my onkyo 606 to my tv all via hdmi.\\

I have triped thecked all settings, including making sure its on linear pcm.

I have not moved my stuff or changed anything. It seemed to stop working after new firmware installed. \\

My reciever just says "dolby digital" now, although it used to say multichannel pcm. \\

\\
please help?

k fixed, plugged ps3 hdmi into "cbl sat" input on reciever. Seems weird that game tv port not working now. Wonder if optical coming out from tv into "game tv" has something to do with it altough worked perfect fine before. weird.

Side note, LOUD intermittent fan noise after new firmware, anyone else???

Lost sound too, had to reboot the ps3 again.

I downloaded 2.53. The first thing I tried was running Hulu fullscreen. I got sound and video for 30 seconds, then the PS3 completely locked up. I had to do a hard reset to get it back. No problems since. (PS3->Onkyo 606 on Game/TV->Samsung 46A550. All HDMI.)

Is the Onkyo the common factor here?

I haven't upgraded the PS3 in my HT yet, I only did the one in the bedroom. It's HDMI direct to the LCD, no receiver. No sound until I rebooted the PS3.

I had no HDMI issues. I'm running through a Yamaha RX-V3900 and nothing changed.

I upgraded the other night and didn't notice anything strange. Although I do have a question. When playing blu-ray's such as Transformers which utilizes Dolby TrueHD, and Wanted which uses DTS-HD Master Audio, are these lights supposed to show up on the receiver? I am currently using Bitstream on the ps3 audio settings which is supposed to pass through the audio and let the receiver do the work, which the Onkyo 606 is supposed to be able to do. However, when playing these movies the only light I see is DTS, or the Dolby Logo. I don't see a MA or TrueHD lighting up anywhere. Should I try PCM audio settings on the PS3?

PS3 only does onboard decoding of DolbyTrueHD and DTS HD-MA. It can not bitstream those codecs. Switch to LPCM during playback of those codecs, otherwise you only get the core DD or DTS tracks.

Alright I switched to Linear PCM. Thanks guys. I know it's working by pressing select and it shows it's playing in DTS-HD MA. Not really sure if I notice much of a difference in the audio quality, but I'm using it this way regardless.
