ATI 5770, latest drivers (just installed them). I get all the correct rates except the 50hz.

Samsung UN46D6500 - DENON AVR991.zip 1.255859375k . file
post #1563 of 2766
Didn't work, now it's showing 50hz and 25hz interlaced.
What happens if you connect directly to the Samsung? The EDID override has the exact native EDID timings of the Samsung TV that you posted.
Same thing, when I first installed the override it only showed 50hz, when I rebooted it added the 25hz interlaced.
So it's a driver problem, I guess. Uninstall the EDID override (with delete driver files option ticked) and try older driver versions. Also, try swapping HDMI cables.
Originally there was an ATI 4830 in the machine and it was using an older TV, the TV was replaced with this one (going from non-3d to 3d). The old videocard wasn't 3d capable so it was upgraded to a 5770 and this is when it started having issues, however with the old videocard it was showing all correct rates for what it could support. I also tried a separate machine hooked up to the same TV with an nVidia GTX 470 and it had the same issue.
Well, with the Nvidia card you could add a 50hz custom resolution.
So I just did a Driver Sweeper and went into Device Manager (with showing disconnected devices) and uninstalled everything in safe mode and rolled back to 10.4 which was what the old videocard was running and it still shows 50hz.
What about cables?
Tried several including a DVI-HDMI.
Have just compared the Pioneer EDID video timings with the TV's and they're exactly the same so it could be a problem with the TV HDMI interface giving a bad handshake. Have you tried switching to a different HDMI port on the TV. For the Samsungs there's even a specific one that should be used for a PC connection.
Just remembered that the motherboard/cpu is onboard (i3 Intel HD Graphics) turned that on and plugged it in and the 50hz is gone. Now I just need to find a way to fix it for the ATI card.

However the onboard graphics card also does not support 3D like the old ATI card that was in the machine.

Hi Tulli,

Hope it's alright to butt into this thread, a poster on another forum recommend I do so to see if you could recommend a modded display driver(.inf) to solve my problem once and for all, discussed here:

Running a Nvidia GTS 250 on a Palsonic TFTV812U monitor

Thank you in advance

DVI detection can be forced with an EDID override but with NVidia drivers you'd lose sound. The easiest way is removing the Extension block line from the .inf file of the captured EDID.

OTH if the TV is connected directly to the Nvidia card you should be able to apply a custom resolution (1360x768) over the HDMI connection. Try it.

Sandy Bridge does support 3D.

Tulli, you are a god among men. It took we 3 weeks to find this thread and once I had, just 3 minutes to fix my problem.

Over the last month I've returned 3 Nvidia GT430 graphics cards and two Onkyo receivers to the retailer as faulty while I try and work out why I wasn't getting HD audio out of my PC, I even bought myself a stupidly expensive HDMI cable as a last resort after I'd tried replacing everything else. Turned out it was just a simple EDID problem. Thank you again.

Just one question. I used 'stock' EDID override you published previously for an LG 42LG50 with Onkyo TX-SR606 - instantly got DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD working on my receiver. This isn't quite what I am running however, I have a LG 42LG7000 with Onkyo TX-SR608 - does this matter?? Is it worth you doing an additional override file? (If so, just let me know what info you need).

Finally, why so you think the manufacturers of these devices so blind to this issue?? I've been in conversation with both Onkyo and Asus (GT 430 manufacturer) about this and neither one of them mentioned the possibility of EDID problems - they just assumed I had faulty hardware.

Thanks!

If you have no video issues you can perfectly use the stock EDID override for the LG 42LG50 & Onkyo 606.

Hi Tulli et al,

Glad I finally found this thread! I built my HTPC about 2 weeks ago and it's been working great except for these frustrating EDID handshake issues. I called Denon today but got no help. So, I was hoping this could be fixed with a hack. I was hoping to get some much needed guidance as all this is new to me -- I'm in information overflow mode :|

Problems:
1. When power cycling TV and Receiver, image in WMC will show up as 4x3. Closing WMC and restarting it generally helps, but now I've been getting some other issues where the screen gets gets pushed over 50% (looks like a split screen - vertical or horizontal sync issue?) and a reboot is the only thing that will help.
2. Waking from sleep, similar issues. Sometimes the audio goes away. Sometimes it goes to stereo only. Sometimes black screen. Reboot is the only thing that will help.
3. When freshly booted, all audio seems to be working properly. I'm even getting DTS-HD! Never got that through my PS3. Originally, I did have a problem with being unable to get 5.1 audio at all, but that was fixed with fresh install of the OS. Now, I'll occasionally get audio issues (5.1 dropping out, no sound at all) when coming out of sleep or power cycling the receiver/tv.

My system:
AMD Llano A8 3850
Biostar TA75M+ Mobo
4GB Ram
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Ceton InfiniTV 4
Denon 2309ci
Panasonic TH-50PZ800U

HDMI goes out of the HTPC into the Denon and then into the TV.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Unfortunately no WMC HDMI switching issues can be fixed with an EDID override. Only solution is an expensive Gefen Detective Plus that keeps the HDMI connection alive for the HTPC.
Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Is the EDID issue, then, solely related to audio? I've read that the Gefen sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Have you had any experience with it?

Also video issues, like in your case.

No, no personal experience with the Gefen as I've never had any need for it. But AFAIK it's a safe solution, and the only one that I'm aware of that can help with the switching/S3 resume HDMI issues with WMC.

However, search through the forum just in case for similar problems. Maybe a more cost efficient solution has recently come out that I don't know.

I went ahead and ordered it off of Amazon since I've spent more time than necessary on this issue and I just want to enjoy my little franken-htpc. That said, if I wanted to learn more about attempting to fix this through EDID, do you have any recommendations on resources? I downloaded Moninfo today.

Thanks again!

Good news. Got the HDMI Detective yesterday. So far, it works great. Even when coming out of sleep. Now, I can sleep!

Hi,

I have the following setup:

ATI HD5450 - HDMI -> Vizio E420VL - Optical Out -> An old Sony Reciever that does at least have optical in to give 5.1

When I configure the speakers on my PC I only get a 2 channel Stereo option. In order to get 5.1 as an option I assume I need to bypass the EDID with a custom inf file.

I have attached the real time data and the registered data. Any help with a custom inf that will let me configure 5.1 speakers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

P.S. Why is my cable box able to ignore the EDID in this same set up and push out 5.1?

The attached override will work for you (same video timings of your Vizio).

Tulli - thank you very much. Unfortunately still a no go. This is driving me nuts. I powered down both tv and pc and still no luck. Disabled onboard sound in bios as well. I am not sure what I am missing. I have attached several relevant screen caps. If anyone can have a look and offer any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanks
LL

Looks like the EDID override is not correctly installed. Did you reboot after installing it? Use AMD native drivers. Also EDID overrides require Vista or Win7.
