Doesn´t work frown.gif

as you see in this Picture there are added "coded formats" (DTS Audio and Dolby Digital, in the red box at the bottom), but in the red box at the top you see that "maximal ammounts of channels" is still 2.

"Moninfo" is still showing 2 Channels, after installing the new driver.

I'm looking for a point in the right direction. I initially thought I was having drivers issues due to the incredibly bad ATI drivers for my recent computer build (12.6, 12.7, 12.8 none work well; currently on 12.8).

I run a Win7 64bit OS with an XFX radeon HD 7970 video card on a ASUS P8Z77V Deluxe motherboard that is supposed to support the lossless codecs of my BR and HD DVD collections with no down sampling in the processing chain at bit rates up to 192kHz. If I was just using integrated graphics on my i7-3770k and the hdmi out of the motherboard I doubt I'd have issues, though I have not tested it.

My preferred setup is PC - Yamaha RX-V3900 - LG 46' LE5400.

I plan to bitstream audio to the receiver for decoding (though I'll need a software solution as the free powerdvd10 bundled with my BR drive only supports LPCM; which is fine for now). Since I'm fairly certain I get better video processing with the 7970, I have HDMI set to passthrough on the receiver with no scaling. Audio is set to amp, not amp-tv.

My initial issues were the usual video drop outs when switching between inputs and devices and the 10% underscan reset in CCC. However, now the PC will not even boot correctly unless I'm directly connected to my monitor (probably the biggest concern is that there are system errors, blue screens, or other odd behavior that doesn't allow win7 to boot properly when connected to the receiver). Due to this issue, I can no longer start the computer connected to the receiver; I have to connect to the tv directly, boot, and then swap the hdmi cable from the PS3 after booting up. While this worked a few times, it was a pain. Now, after the cable swap I no longer get audio...it appears to be a handshake issue that causes a constant switching loop and the amp won't select an audio format. Is it possible it's as basic as a conflict between the realtek hd audio drivers and the 12.8 catalyst drivers? Though I've installed it, no realtek ATI HDMI driver appears under device manager (I'm sure it used to; may also be integrated into 12.8).

When I ran MonInfo I also got this odd result:

The monitor is 46 or 48' yet registers only 7.2 inches! Connected directly, native resolution is 1920x1080p. When I ran it again through the receiver I get "Native/preferred timing.. 1280x720p at 60Hz (16:9)." This is odd b/c the receiver should also show 1920x1080p.

I guess my question is whether these problems sounds familiar to anyone? I'm willing to try the EDID override, (or the Gefen HDMI detective, if I have too, ugh) but the thread seems to apply mainly to denon, onkyo and sony receivers (though the initial post by RandomFoe was a Yamaha rx-v series receiver and plenty more show up in the thread). If the override still works for Yamaha can someone please let me know or link to an .inf file that has worked for them?

Update- Tried one of Tulli's .inf's for a similar LG and had no luck. I've rolled it back and will probably need to clean the registry now since it still sees the yamaha as a denon. I posted this in it's own tread and got nowhere, so I'm hoping this thread will work.

I've made progress. I booted through the receiver, which is huge. I discovered I was missing an "SM bus controller driver" that didn't install with the rest of the mobo chipset drivers. Once installed, it booted. It boots differently, as I get a green bar with Microsoft, rather than the ASUS bios splash screen that allows me to go into the bios and the conventional windows logo that forms. I don't care for now, but this is strange since the bios are set to show the ASUS logo b/c it makes accessing the bios so simple.

I got the new realtek driver for the mobo from ASUS. It seemed to help as audio is now flowing to the Yamaha intermittently, but there is still a conflict, as audio cuts in and out about every 2 seconds. AVR still shows up as denon after the rollback, which also strikes me as odd.

I still think an EDID override may help since my problems are identical to the issues experienced by everyone in the forum, though driver conflicts are a possible cause.

Try using only the native AMD HDMI audio driver (no Realtek). The video problems are exclusively due to the AMD driver though. Can you disable the onboard video, at least for troubleshooting?

Tulli, thank you for responding...

The on board iGPU video has always been disabled. In fact, as part of my troubleshooting yesterday, I enabled both the pci-e and iGPU graphics to see what would happen. Once enabled, I got a message from the device manager that I was missing video controller. I Installed the most recent intel drivers from ASUS, and the 7970 and Intel 4000 graphics both show up as display adapters.

When both the mobo and 7970 were connected simultaneously I saw multiple devices, instead of just one, but windows viewer showed the Yamaha was disconnected (and still seeing Denon after clearing the Reg with glary utilities). Moninfo still shows the Denon info too...and a few other suspect devices.

I continued to use the mobo HDMI all night and it worked. The color was less accurate, but it had no glitches. The pc went in to sleep mode, the tv did a power save and shut off, and no reconfig was required. I don't want to do a work around, but I'm considering a (7970 - TV) and (mobo HDMI - receiver) dual cable set up if all else fails.

Should I download a screen capture app and attach some shots of what I'm seeing? I could get some shots with iGPU enabled/disabled, etc... I'm still confused by the monitor showing up tablet sized too...seems the EDID info is corrupted and I only confused things by installing the .inf.

Have you already tried the cleaning procedure in section 4 in my sig.? There really seems to be some corruption of monitor drivers in the registry.

Hi! I have exactly the same problen as MartinhoSt. Maybe you can do the edid-override for my setup too smile.gif

the facts:
-Win 7 64
-ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4550
-HDMI -> Philips 7603 LCD -> coaxial digital output to -> 5.1 System

I only got 2.0 in the "Realtek HDMI Output", but I want 5.1.

2 channels = 2 LPCM (uncompressed audio stream), which is the max bandwidth over S/PDIF. You only need to set your application to send an AC3 (compressed) audio stream to get multichannel.

I tried divX Movies with 5.1 AC3 using the vlc Player. In the vlc-player i used this settings:



But my 5.1 System says its Stereo and uses ProLogic2. When I connect my XBox 360 to the same HDMI-Port, the AVR recognizes DD 5.1 and works fine. Thats why I wanted to tell Windows by using edid override, that the tv can handle 5.1. So i could turn on 5.1 in the windows/Realtek audio-settings, right?

using "Win32 waveOut extension output" instead of "DirectX audio output" had no effect. With other players I have also no 5.1 with my AVR.

The native EDID of the monitor is fine, but see if the mod makes a difference. It has a 6 speakers descriptor, so maybe it helps, but the override will still give you 2 (LPCM) channels for Windows. Again this is correct for LPCM over S/PDIF..

AVR : Pioneer VSX-2020
Beamer : Epson EH-TW6000W

I've got some problems with playing 3D files. the software to play the 3d files is PowerDVD.
If i connect the Beamer directly to my laptop there is no problem.
But if i connect the Laptop to the AVR and want to chose a 3D Mode , power dvd says that the current display doesn't support the 3d format.



i think this is the right mode. With the epson directly on laptop the auto detection works perfectly.

Should i merge the two .inf files !?
How ? Can someone help me please ?

TV's typically will not pass AC3 through from any connection except the built in TV tuner. MartinhoST is the first report I have seen that will do it.

It should work. The only difference between the native Epson EDID and the mod is the Pioneer audio descriptor. Did you boot up after installing the override?

That's the real-time EDID.

Ah! But I forgot to ask: what's your graphic adapter? If it's an Intel IGP (I'm not sure about IVB 4000) then it won't accept EDID overrides.

Not with an EDID override. The Pioneer EDID looks OK so maybe it's a PDVD issue. Can you try a different software (e.g. TMT5)?. If the problem persists then it would be a driver issue.

Hi,

I solved the problem !
My Dell Vostro 3550 has a switchable GPU. So i could assign PowerDVD12 to the much better ATI Radeon GPU. After this, power dvd accept your .inf and works perfectly !

MTM5 doesn't allow any 3D options. All 3D options are "greyed out".
