Can someone help me mod this to add dolby 5.1 (and nothing else)?
Double post.
Try the samsung edid marked with an (*) on table from link in my signature. Also do a search through the thread for Samsung mods fit for your TV.

Just stating that an DVI-HDMI with audio feed will eliminate the issue when breaking that pin.

Alternatively, there is a way to just block off that contact on an HDMI cable...though it may be a lot more difficult.

Hi Tulli,
Hope you can help me out here. I have a problem with supported formats not showing up, such as dts-hd ma, truehd and other formats.
I'm not sure if this is an EDID issue and I have no idea how to alter the hex codes. Been searcing around for solutions.
I had tried overwriting with one of the EDID "Panasonic TC-L42S10B - ONKYO HT-R390" and failed to solve anything.

My setup
OS vista 32
560ti
HTPC>HDMI>ONKYO HT-R390>HDMI>SONY TV sony klv32u300a

Thx in advance.

Vista is the problem. You need to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.

ok thx Tulli.

Hello! I was directed here in hopes of someone helping me with an EDID Override possibly?

Not sure what all this means, if this is the right file, or even what my name is at this point but I appreciate anyone that can help!

What is your issue, setup, graphic adapter?

I have an Arctic MC001-N going to a Onkyo S9400-THX which then goes to my Samsung HDTV all through HDMI. The problem lies in the fact that I am only able to configure for a 2-channel setup in sound properties. My graphic adapter is ATI 5000 series.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and trying to mainly use XBMC through it. Yesterday I wasn't getting any sound from optical or HDMI, only analog while attempting to test a movie in XBMC. Today I am getting sound through HDMI, but it is only 2-channel and I still can't configure my system on this HTPC to surround sound.

Everything you could possibly know about my certain issue can be found here

It's kind of funny cuz right now I have an optical cable and HDMI cable from my HTPC to my receiver and I'm getting audio. In system properties, the optical is set as default, but system sounds are coming through HDMI. XBMC is set to HDMI right now too. If I unplug that optical cable, I can't hear a thing! How's that make sense? I get no sound any other way, and that's why I have this set up like this currently.
Is the AVR set to no passthrough of the TV audio? Check the HDMI setup of the AVR.
HDMI Through is set to Off.
You can just use the EDID you posted to do the override:

monitor.zip 1k .zip file
After attempting the EDID override, it still says 2-channel for HDMI and also still says "No compressed formats found."
If the EDID override is correctly installed all audio formats should be listed. Have you tried swapping cables, or switching to another HDMI port on the AVR?
All I did was turn driver signing off, and installed that monitor.inf file to the generic monitor driver. Is there something I should have done before installing that .inf file? Like driver, software or anything else?
Did you reboot after installing the EDID override?
I sure did
Now when i create the .inf, is my HTPC going to the receiver, then the TV, or do i just cut out the receiver and go straight from the HTPC to the TV? Exactly what drivers am I doing the EDID override on? Just the generic monitor driver or is there another .inf that I need to create to override another driver as well?

I'm trying hard to understand everything, I do apologize.
It only applies to the monitor driver. The override you're applying is the exact merge of the EDID of your TV and the AVR. It shouldn't be needed if EDID detection is OK, which is your problem. But the overrride should fix the detection so that the HTPC is forced to "see" the device defined by the EDID. As this is not working perhaps there's a corruption in the registry. Try cleaning up registry leftovers (section 4 in my sig,) and reboot.

Or perhaps there's some setting in the BIOS of the MC001-N (e. g. HD Audio enabled) that needs to be fixed.
So having HTPC-->AVR-->HDTV is ok while creating the .inf file?

If I can't get this to work properly, is there something I can purchase to add to my setup that will achieve this for me automatically? I see this HDMI detective, but am not sure if that's what I would need, or if there's something else out there.
The EDID that you posted was a perfect merge of the TV and AVR EDIDs, so it seems the AVR is correctly set and with no EDID problems. Did you already try the registry clean-up (section 4 in my sig.)? Did you already check the BIOS?
I reinstalled Windows 8 since I did the last EDID override. I'm set up to do it again, just want to have everything aligned properly, in case I missed something on the last ride. Again, if I can't get this override to work like it should, would purchasing the HDMI Detective or something else for that matter fix me up?
Still the same story after attempting it again!

When I am in Device Manager, under Monitors, it has the name of my receiver listed as the driver installed.

Under Audio inputs and outputs in Device Manager, it has listed Digital Audio (HDMI) (2- High Definition Audio Device). When I am in Sound Properties, that's the name of my device that's listed as well. Shouldn't it say something like ATI HDMI Device or something along those lines?

And also, asking for the 3rd time now, would the HDMI Detective be the route to take if I can't successfully override the EDID myself?
Did you install the driver from the AMD website (not the Windows 8 driver)?

The HDMI Detective will work but it shouldn't be needed (and it's expensive).
Yes, I installed AMD Auto Detect, installed the latest driver, cleaned the registry, restarted, everything! It's still acting crazy! I found the HDMI Detective for $85, and I'm beginning to think it'll be worth it at this point. I even tried to use the Samsung+Onkyo .inf file that supposedly will work with most Samsung LCD's+Onkyo AVR's, and that didn't do jack either.
Hi all,

I am sure this has been touched on before but I can't seem to find the answer. I have the following setup all connected via HDMI

HTPC (AMD-A10) - Yamaha 671 - Samsung ES8000

Everything works fine but if I turn off the amp and then turn it back on it has resized the desktop to 640p and then back to 1080p leaving everything in a weird state. If I turn off the TV and leave the amp on then I get the same effect but only sometimes. I tried added the Samsung EDID info as a monitor driver but that didn't seem to make a different.

Running Windows 8 with the 13.1 Cat drivers.
That can't be fixed with an EDID override. You could try blocking pin 19 on the HDMI connector to avoid hot-plug detection:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1091403/edid-override-thread/2100#post_22086161

Or the DVI method:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1091403/edid-override-thread/2100#post_22086908

Or an expensive Gefen HDMI Detective that keeps the HDMI connection alive.

Ok thanks, does it matter which cable it goes on? ie HTPC - AMP vs AMP - TV
