Sorry its taken me so long to post, but I had a function I had to attentd yesterday after work, and today I had standby duty at the Air Force Base.
The conference call yesterday with Jason, Alan, and the JVC tech went well. As with most things, talking to someone directly is always way better than back and forth e-mails. Sort of like when people respond here on the forums. Sometimes things get miscontstrued, or the way the replies are written, people can read them differently then they were intended.
Talking with everyone on the phone, I could tell that AVS and JVC were both very concerned about my situation, and they wanted to make things right. They understood my frustration level at the RS20 failing, and at the Texas repair facility putting over 330 hrs on my bulb, and not replying back to my complaint.
Bottom line is they want me to send it to the Cypress repair facility, and to give them another chance to repair the projector.
I can honestly say that AVS and JVC are doing their best to rectify the situation. If the unit comes back repaired, then I will be satisfied. I wont say that I feel 100% that it will be repaired. The fact that they dont now whats causing the problem still concerns me. I will say that i do feel 100% certain that JVC will do their best to fix it, and at the end of the day, thats all I can ask.
I want to thank everyone on here for their responses. I would just like to remind the vetern posters on here, that there are a lot of novices on here, (like me) who are driven away because of what can be a perceived know it all attitude, or condecending opinions from some of the experienced home theater enthsiasts who post on here. I think we should ensure that when we reply on here, that we treat everyone with respect, and if our opinions differ too greatly, or if we have nothing positive to add, that sometimes its best to keep our opinions to ourself. I'm not saying anyone purposley tried to say negative things, but I think some of the opinions seemed to think I wanted somethign for nothing, which isnt the case.
Sorry if I sounded a little preachy there.
This might be a little off topic, but for all of you JVC RS20 owners, if the unthinkable happens and I have to purchase a new projector, I have a few questions.
1. Would you purchase the RS15 or 25?
2. What other projectors would you consider?
3. What other technology compares to LCOS? DLP? LCD?
4. Basically what would you consider the top 5 1080P projectors under $7500.00
For anyone new to thread, here are two photos from when i was watchign HBO last night. I also have a video of the problem, taen with my iphone, but I dont think I can post .mov files.
