Dont know the exact stats.. but I run CB Pro.. and 1) the aircraft dont shoot at me, so I dont have to rush/panic to get a shot off. 2) one hit from stinger kills all harriers & choppers.. Im pretty sure 1 takes down a Pavelow too. Even if Im wrong I have a 2nd Stinger and can play the match as normal because the aircraft doesnt 'see' me.

When you guys say you decide to prestige or not. What does that mean?

When you complete level 70 you have the option to "Prestige".
What that does is bust you back down to buck private.
So you start over with basic weapons, killstreaks, etc...but you keep your callsigns (titles and emblems).

The benefits: you get more points per match, new callsigns, and you get an extra custom weapons slot for each time you Prestige. Plus you get the sense of accomplishment of completing the 70 levels and the thrill of starting over again.

Personally I'm about to hit my 2nd prestige and I'm looking forward to it.
Each time I prestige I'm picking a different weapon to focus on as well as developing different skills in conjucntion with perks.

BTW - I'll be on a lot of the next few days so if anyone wants to play HC modes, Ground War or 3rd person tactical send me a friend request.
I've got 2 or 3 guys I play with and we have a lot of laughs.

Is this true? This would allow you to run through each prestige faster than the previous time if so. COD4 wasn't like this to my knowledge.

I remember reading as much on the IW forum, the idea being that once you had slogged through the first 70 they would make it easier for you to repeat and prestige again.

My empirical data...
One of the guys in my group routinely gets more kills than me, and more points in a game, but in the end we usually get the same bonus because I have Prestige'd and he has not.

I'll see if I can track down the link...

there's a very good thread in this subforum regarding gaming headphone.
Use the search or just look at the thread topics.

BTW - I have the TB X41 and I love them.

mixamp + headset is $250 tho, not $400.

no buyers remorse here. i love those damn things. one of the best gaming accesories ive ever purchased.
Astro A40's are the gold standard, used by the pro gamers on the MLG tour.. but cost $250.

That said the Tritton AX720's work great and cost $129 at Best Buy. They are hands down the best bang for the buck in gaming headphones.

Ok quick question can you actually unlock all of the killstreak options or by lvl 70 will you be missing a bunch?

If yes how do you unlock them lvling seems to not be unlocking them all. Granted I am only about halfway there but there are more locked then unlocked.

Go to your killstreaks tab in game and at the top there is a banner that tells you how many levels until you unlock the next one. You do unlock all of them. Once you get to the higher levels they begin to unlock with greater frequency.

Well mitchrizzo "eddie slacks", his friend saako and I just finished a few hours of HDTDM and man was that a blast. Out of all the games we played we maybe lost about 3. I think there were only a few games were any of us were negative in k-d.

Best part about it was acting like a team. Pointing out areas were folks were, cover each other when air drops came in, willing to let someone grab the air drop if we were taken out, etc.

It was just an all around good night

I've been playing this on PS3 since release date and I recently had the chance to get a practically new Xbox 360 off craigslist for real cheap. so i traded in some games i never play anymore and got this for 360 too since all my friends are on xbox and not ps3.

now, on ps3 ( i was a level 58 or something) my bonus XP after a match would be much higher, usually in the thousands. but now, starting out from scratch on xbox (level 14 or so now) it seems my bonus XP is much lower even if i perform the same, say 17 kills and 9 deaths or whatever. My bonus XP is usually around 600-800. Even less if my team loses a TDM or something. Is that just because my rank is lower? does match bonus increase as you rank up? i don't remember what it was like when i was on ps3 and low ranked. can't seem to find an answer online either.

Yes, your bonus is related to your rank... Rank up higher, your bonus goes up...
Yes. You get a bigger bonus the higher you are ranked. It must be part of the formula they use to calculate the bonus at the end of the game.

There is a work around on the Akimbo 1887's.

Word on the street is if you use the Bling Pro perk and equip the FMJ and Akimbo attachments to the model 1887, the range is the same as pre patch. They only patched it when it was akimbo, not when it was akimbo and fmj, so the fmj bypasses the patch and returns the original range.

This vid is on the PS3, but it is the same thing on the 360. Numerous posters on the IW forums have confirmed it.

how does something like that get missed? I'd lose my job (or at least not be given anymore projects) if I missed something like that!

Has this actually been confirmed? Do we know the video is from 1.07?

It really doesn't make sense to me from a coding standpoint. I would think the 1887 would have range and damage parameters. These parameters may go up or down a certain % based on the chosen perks, but for the Bling combo of 1887 and FMJ to cause more damage/range, it would have to be a bug with the way the Bling perk is coded. But if this was the case, I'd think we'd know that by now from other weapons. Unless the Bling code was different for different weapons.

If they aren't doing it this way, they are doing something really strange.

(Again this is all speculation, as I have no idea how this was actually coded)

I obviously made these numbers up, but here is how I'd see it working, without thinking about it much:

1887 Range = 1, Damage = 1
1887 akimbo Range = 1.1, Damage = 1.5
1887 FMJ Range = 1.3, Damage = 1.3

1887 Bling should be (max of each perk): Range = 1.3, Damage= 1.5
1887 Bling bug (multiply each perk): Range = 1.1*1.3 = 1.43, Damage=1.3*1.5=1.95

But like I said before, if the Bling bug was actually the case, then I'd fully expect it would be noticeable on all other weapons.

i got an update for this game last night. i thought it was the supposed patch weve been waiting for but people are still running around with akimbo 1887s blasting people away from 50 yards.

on another note, im starting to get the feel that iw may have gone overboard with the expansion to the multiplayer with this installment. the perks and killstreaks really allow players to set up some really cheap classes. I mean do we really need thermal scopes to snipe in this game? do we really need to be able to knife somebody with a 20ft lunge? do we really need to run faster than normal human speed would allow? this installment has gone more over the top and exhaggerated. i guess when you create perfection with the first modern warfare the best you can do is screw it up by adding all these wacko perks?

the situation reminds me of halo 2. the first one was perfect for multiplayer and the second one just went way overboard and was no longer enjoyable and just downright annoying. thats how i feel with this game right now. its more trouble than its worth with all the cheapness going around that iw has allowed players to equip at nauseum. nothing really feels tactical. it doesent really feel like a battle is going on. just alot of superhuman bs and indivudual stat whoring going on. the game has absolutely no consistency and everybody seems to be on the annoyance loadout. its like you have to be cheaper than your opponent to get anywhere. and in my mind if i have to resort to that, its not worth the effort. i think i need a break from this game due to the massive frustration ive been having lately. or i just need to go back to cod4. that game had just enough to keep you satisfied with what it had without going completely overboard. this surely isnt the first time the follow up from a highly regarded game was worse than its predecessor by completely overdoing it and shotting the formula that got you there in the first place.

OK, so now I have to use 2 hands to count the number of glitchers I have seen in the game . Last night during a 2 hour session I ran into a guy running around with a smoke grenade in his hand like he was on crack and stabbing everyone. I thought this one was put to bed 2 updates ago? I also ran into a handful of boosters who having their way with themselves in a secluded corner of the map . I for the life of me cannot figure out why a person you consider that fun.

Finally, and this was the strangest, I ran into a guy who's GT showed up as a four letter word followed by pictures of the A, B, X and Y buttons from the controller! How did he do THAT??? He was also doing some boosting, so I made it my mission in life to own his program. He was a revenge rager, so it was easy. I would pop him, move 50 yards, pop him again when he would come flying into where I used to be. Lather, rinse, repeat.

At any rate, I kept searching for a good lobby and finally found my home. Finished the night with a 20 KS using the venerable AC-130. I really love that thing!

The care package knifing is ridiculous. Ran into that in a couple games last night. I'm sure those are the guys that used the Javelin, unlimitted ammo, then the 1887's, and now have to resort back to running around with the care package knifing people.

It's a love/hate relationship with this game. It's all about getting into the right lobby with the right people.

I'm looking forward to BFBC2 for a changeup to this game.

Finally had an opportunity to play with some AVSers last night, Daekwan anyway. Not sure if the rest of the folks were AVS. Anyway, way more fun than your garden variety GP match. Daekwan, what mode was that we were playing? There was no HUD, took only a bullet or two to get a kill, kept having to hold down a point on the map that would change from time to time.

Oh and to all of the people complaining about glitching, what % of the time would you say you're in a room with glitchers? Maybe I've been really fortunate, but aside from the frequency of 1887 akimbos, my MW2 experience is relatively glitch-free.

Hi all,
Can people get into a lil bit of the strategy for the HC game types. I keep hearing about f*ckers camping, using m203s and i'm not really in the mood to get owned since i'd like my k/d to go up a lil.

i 'm thinking an important component is that you should be playing and working with your team?

yes, its important to work as a team in these gametypes. and that usually only happens when you play in a designated party with friends. otherwise id reccomend going solo in deathmatch and free for all if your that concerned with keeping your k/d ratio up.

Yeah, it's like the annoying parts of MW on steroids. It takes all the strategy and skill out of the game. It's not hard to figure out what classes to use, it just sucks that it matters so much.

Heartbeat sensor - Sweet. Let's make campers more effective.

Grenade launcher - lets add perks like scavenger and one man army so it's even more obnoxious. Then we'll add cute callsigns like noob tuber. Funny.

Akimbo shotguns - They're almost balanced. Machine pistols have a chance. I missed? Oh, I have 3 more tries..

Stacking killstreaks - EMP, Pavelow, and AC130. Watch me unleash them at the same time on groundwar. Good luck spawning.

Sup Terry..

We were playing Hardcore Headquarters Richochet aka HC HQ Pro..

What that means is that you are playing an HC rules match. No HUD, less health, no radar by default.

HQ is the type of match. The 'objective' is to capture, protect or destroy the HQ. The HQ is a chest hidden around the map, and moves around during the match.

Richochet means if you kill a team or attempt to kill a team the harm only happens to yourself. It was put in to eliminate team killing & friendly fire.

The reason why you havent ran into many cheaters is probably because you are playing specialized gametypes. The cheaters/glitchers are most popular in the most popular forms of gametypes. Team Deathmatch (TDM) and Groundwar (GW) are definitely the most popular.

I agree 100%. They took the most annoying parts from COD4 and magnified them. The biggest complaints from COD4 were the campers, the snipers, the people who played OBJ games only for the cheap kills. The super customization, over powered killstreaks and too many different aircraft in the air have only magnified the above. Now you have people who actually play OBJ for just a nuke. There is no way you should be able to win an OBJ based game on kills alone. Thats like winning a basketball game by tallying who has the most assists.

The game could have been so much better without the cheesey extras, which has hurt the simplistic balanced gameplay that made COD4 so enjoyable. I beleive most people would have been happy if they took COD4.. gave it a completely new SP, gave 16 new maps for MP, and just updated a few of the guns/weapons to things you would see on a show like FutureWeapons on the Military channel.. and most importantly give us some Halo3 features like online trackable stats & replay/recording ability.

That said MW2, even with its flaws is still one of the best games out besides COD4. Theres not much else Id be playing. The question remains though, 6 months from now when the hype & newness has worn off will people still be playing it. The most amazing part of COD4 was how many people still played the game almost 2 years later.. I dont see MW2 having the same long legs.
I've only seen a true glitch in two TDM games and they were a warp to a rust FFA and a dude running around with a care package grenade. I've seen plenty of akimbo 1887's but no other glitches at all. Granted, I've only got around 50 hours or so of play time, but if you are playing TDM, the excitement about glitches is overblown.
Damn, if you don't all sound like a bunch of Goldilocks!

"this porridge is too hot!"
"this porridge is too cold!"

It's as if everyone wants the game to be exactly what they want, and on top of that they want it to be like COD4.
Ain't gonna happen.
