Is there a setting I need to change somwhere ? i am using KWORLD ATSC TV Stick UB435-Q.

I am switching from Sage to Mediaportal and when trying to configure my system I had the same problem, many searches on the mediaportal forums basically I found a couple of others having the same issue with W7. I rolled back to Vista and no problems with the channel scans. Seems there is some issues with the channel scan routines and W7.

Is there supposed to be one or is the only way to pause, start, stop, etc. thru the keyboard shortcuts? Also I have no exit button to click on. So far the only way I have been able to exit is to use the esc key several times. Can anyone shed any light on this? Am I missing something? Thanks.

When you say your HD I'm assuming Hard Drive... so they could be a variety of formats... but that may not be of issue. I find the only sure way to trigger the lower menu bar is to be in FULL screen mode. I don't get it in a window. Moving the mouse to the bottom 20% will popup the menu... I use my Hauppauge 1600 and its remote to control while I'm in fullscreen mode and it works GREAT! Oh, and the small button on the left edge of the remote mimics the key taking you back UP the menu from where you'd come in.

Please... MediaPortal's current release version is 1.0.2 and it is not Win7 compatible!
Their next version 1.1.0 will fold W7-compatability into the other improvements... I'm surprised to see how many are getting decent results now but have never questioned if they're using the release 1.0.2 or the Beta 1.1 and the nightly SVN patches.
I never said anywhere it was W7 compatible. I had it on the machine I was testing on so I tried it. That's all. I simply shared my experiences.

I figured out how to get the "Watch a blu ray" option? Any way that can monitor a different folder, as I have a separate folder with all my blu-ray mkv's ? How do you set that up?

Thank you for mentioning that... I think many have done just that because if you read the MP roadmap you can identify several items addressing Win7. Here's how they describe 1.0.2 and Win7.

Does anyone know how to make the green MCE button launch Media Portal instead of 7MC?

Extract the attached files in your MediaPortal program files folder and run the install bat file. That will set up the mptray process to run in the background (and on start-up) to listen for the green button press on your remote and launch MediaPortal.

To stop Media Center from running when you press the green button (Start button) on your remote, you have to kill the ehtray process and stop it from coming back when you start your computer. Here's how to do that:
- Use Task Manager to kill any existing instance of the ehtray.exe process
- If you're using Windows Vista/7, then follow this tutorial to take ownership of file C:\\Windows\\ehome\\ehtray.exe and rename it to ehtray.exe.bak http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67...ship-file.html

mptray-mod-patched.zip 62.888671875k . file

hello all,

using the setup in this guide, i've got a few tv shows (nightly shows like letterman, chelsea lately, etc) that i had to run the Manual Episode Importer on. their titles show up in red text now in MP. not only that, but i've found that after watching one of the shows in the list, it disappears from MP and i have to re-import.

is this normal behavior? is there some way i can fix this?

thanks in advance.

Woot rc1 is picking up my atsc channels in windows 7!!
will post back if it works good, i hope i can get away from windows media center...pain in the butt on a server for recording and not wanting to buy sage or beyond..

-edit seems to work good, now just gota get epg figured out. then decide if i want to stay in media center or switch all the htpcs over to portal.
Well I forgot how much epg sucks. Looks like I am going to have to sack up and buy sagetv or beyondtv just for recording :/
post #1064 of 1429
For $20/year a subscription to SchedulesDirect is an excellent EPG - been using it ever since Zap-2-it stopped supporting FREE EPG to the public...
I will second that, I used schedules direct and the epg plugin for it, no problems.

It was more work, but I also have setup 4therecord

http://www.4therecord.eu/

as a scheduling for recordings. Mapping the channels was a bit of a pain, but I like it alot.

Possibly stupid question as I've never used that feature - but you are attempting to play the movies via Moving Pictures and not the video section of the StreamedMP skin correct? Also, what file extension is the intro file?
The File exstension is and are mpg and flv. It works no problem in VLC media player or windows classic or when i load the movie in StreampedMP with out a movie after it. But if i try and get it to be an intro movie it craps out

Just turn off media center completely from programs and features in control panel

Nice! I have to find time to update my HTPC to Win7 and MP RC1. I'll update the guide as well once I get around to doing the upgrades.

Easy solution to your DirectX error: remove Catalyst Control Center from start-up processes. This is most often the culprit as it causes a race condition.

ffdshow is a pretty bad decoder for H.264. Personally I use the DivX H.264 decoder which comes with DivX Lite.

is that for video or audio ? I dident think it could decode DD-HD or DTS HD

OUCH... you didn't mention what you'd placed inside your .mkv files. Besides, if you want to have HD audio, then you would know them as Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio, and already know of FLAC from reading this other thread... Hope you get answers over there!

Wooooooow everybody should totally check out the latest RC build of StreamedMP.

I haven't upgraded in a while, but this is boat loads better than what it previously was. Moving Pictures and TV series have seen some pretty significant upgrades (categories and filters!!!), and the new music skin is great.

Can't wait for the official release.
I use Make MKV to rip the blu rays. i can do DST-HD fine with my set up just not DD-HD and media portal wont do it at all.
