Did you add m2ts file extension to the list of video extensions? It doesn't appear in my config so I assume it isn't there by default.

Pretty sure I see a big "Play" button in the upper middle of the remote, and pause / stop buttons as well. But perhaps I'm misunderstanding your statement?

Its a standard MCE remote, will work out of the box with MediaPortal. If you want, you can configure the buttons to do anything you want in the MP Configuration section, or by using a 3rd party app like EventGhost.

In MediaPortal configuration, click the Remote section and put a checkmark in "Use Microsoft MCE remote or keyboard". That alone should be sufficient to enable base functionality of the remote. Once that's working, you can use the Mapping button to the right of that checkbox to modify what the buttons do, or use a 3rd party app like EventGhost to provide even more flexibilty and control via the remote.

I've just installed MediaPortal 1.0.2 on my newly rebuilt HTPC with ION platform (Atom CPU, nVidia 9400 GPU). Needless to say, hardware GPU video decoding is a must.

On my previous HTPC, I was able to install PowerDVD 7 and select the Cyberlink filters from MP's configuration options.

I've installed PowerDVD 7 on the new PC with no problems (PowerDVD plays DVD's and Blu-Ray discs flawlessly), but....

Right now in MP, I can pick the Cyberlink filters for the audio, but not for the video. MP's included MPV decoder seems to work well for MPEG-2, but the only option I have for H.264 is ffdshow.... which on the Atom CPU gives exactly the results you'd expect: horrible.

I'm wondering why the Cyberlink filters aren't available on this PC when on the previous HTPC I had no problem using them in MP at all?

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Do any of the buttons work? Is the receiver light flashing when you press the buttons? What operating system are you running? If Vista, does the remote work with Vista Media Center?

Just trying to confirm you have the hardware configured correctly, because the standard buttons (like Play) are pre-configured in MediaPortal and you shouldn't have to change any of the mappings to get them to work.

The remote, no - but the receiver should appear under USB devices. In Vista it shows up as "eHome infrared receiver"

I had the exact same issue using an MCE remote - worked fine everywhere (including powerdvd, tmt3, and media center), but not in MP (but I would be able to use the arrows to move around, just play/stop/rewind/back/etc would not work.

The solution was to install the IR Server Suite which is a program made by the MediaPortal team I think. It helps integrate your remote into MediaPortal and make the buttons work correctly. The ONLY thing I had to do was install the software, and during configuration choose MCE as my remote, and voila everything started working.

Hope that helps

Download and use EventGhost. There is a Media Portal plugin for it. Then you just map the remote presses to functions in Media Portal. I had to use this to get the MCE remote to work in XP (once I installed some drivers) and it worked great.

I would hate to spend $$$ on all of the server hardware (at least 15 TB) for it to go to waste when I move. Has anyone heard of mediaportal or similar software being integrated into a professional HA system? Or even just a custom built server being integrated?

I have a lot of Blu-ray iso's which I wouldn't want to lose access to.

Thanks
Pete

Pete -- not sure what integration MediaPortal will have with Crestron or other high-end HA solutions.

I integrate Control4 in a lot of my custom homes, and one of my clients is using XMBC which works well with Control4. I am going to visit him in about a week or so, and will let you know how well XBMC is working in his place.

Control4 is also coming out with their own media player (I believe $399 retail) in another month or so, and this device will be able to build your library from different media storage points (Sony bluray jukebox, NAS, etc.) and show cover art on the touchscreens and TV interfaces.

I'm sure Crestron will have something similar shortly.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying MediaPortal on my HTPC and it's connected to both my dedicated home theater and my family room plasma/surround system. The interface and library are amazing!!!

** Doing this on Windows 7 - DTS thru SPDIF not working **

H264 / MKV files, dont have pass any audio thru SPDIF to my receiver (or HDMI - dont care though). I am seeing Dolby Digital 5.1 being passed thru fine to my receiver. I have not seen any DTS - played a lot of files. Either they play stereo or no audio.

Setup mediaportal according to instructions here.
Windows 7 professional RTM.
Yamaha HTR-6050 receiver.
GA-MA785GM-US2H MB

Screenshots of my configs are below. Pls help. The MP "Video Player" config shows ffdshow as the audio decoder - I had ac3filter previously, same issue.

Couple of things:
- first check your Yamaha when it's on that input for auto mode. Not sure how it's done on Yamaha, but my Denons have an Input Mode button that changes from PCM to DTS to AUTO etc. You won't get the right audio if it's stuck on PCM or analog.
- are you able to get DD or DTS if you use another player (other than MP) on your HTPC? If not, the problem may not be related to the MP configuration but more with W7 drivers. Sorry not familiar with W7 to help further. Still running XP Pro on my box.

Good luck!
I get DD through MP itself. The situation is the same if I use Windows Media Player Classic. I am wary of installing another player (like VLC) lest it mess with my codecs and its settings.

And yeah, have my Yamaha mode set to Strainght - which will auto decode. On this mode, my PS3 is able to send DTS / DD fine. So its not my yamaha for sure. I really want to be on Win 7 - really like it. like you said, it definitely has to do with Windows Media Foundation I believe. I used GraphStudio on one of the h264 files and it did not show any audio decoder!?!

I am contemplating some options:
* Another XP partition and try setting up MP allover in XP,
* try TMT or some other media center software which will be able to solve the issues I have on Windows 7.
Try installing XBMC -- it's fairly harmless with MP, and is probably the easiest way to test DTS output on W7.

I have both XBMC and MP on my HTPC, running mostly XBMC until I was able to resolve an interlacing issue and get subtitles to work on MP earlier this week. I'm using the new beta version of MP, and absolutely love it!

I wasn't able to get 5.1 at all unless I set the output format to 5.1 in the first box. But you said you are getting 5.1 DD. Maybe that still has something to do with DTS not working.

Hi

I'm just starting to use mediaportal and i just love it, i was looking for something to have my movies and series organized and easily accessible and this is it.

I have almost everything right the way i want i just need a little help with the remote, is there a way to make the remote call mediaportal automatic, and without the asistence of any other program (i know how to do it with HIP).

I have been looking in the mapping option of mediaportal but haven't been able to find it, is there any way to modify the default commands of the MCE remote, ex. change the home button to call mediaportal.

PD: System Xp SP3.
