Looking for a "swiss-army" Front-end for WinXP

Thread Starter
Looking for a good front-end that can do the following::
i) Play BR movies (incl ISO's off my HDD)
ii) Play MKV's/DivX
iii) Watch Live TV

I've seen MediaPortal being mentioned a lot of times but I'm not sure if it can play BR movies+MKV content.

Or is Vista WMC my only savior? (of course, I'll have to dish out another $90 for this as I have XPSP3 right now).

Thanks

It can definitely do MKV -- it uses your system's codecs, so as long as something like Windows Media Player can play it, then so can MP. The setup also lets you choose what codec you want to play for whatever media type it is.

It can also do TV -- depending on your tuner card, you may need some assistance, but even my card (wintv 2250) is barely a year old and it works.

I don't know about Blu-ray ISO. I believe it can play DVD ISO; not sure what it uses to mount disk images, but I'd hope it'd work for Blu-ray too.

Take a look at GBPVR, works great and free!
