I am on a rather small budget and was curious what people would recommend out of these 2 speakers. I am looking for a 2.1 setup for HT and games. i will be attempting to add pieces in the future but will not be spending large amounts of money any time soon.

Just wanted to see what people thought about the refurbs.

Behringer B2031P for an inexpensive bookshelve that performs better than the aforementioned.

I voted other for "Paradigm Atom Monitor".

Awesome little bookshelf for the money.

However, I haven't used the RTi A3, and I'd imagine for the refurb price, it's probably well worth it.

I haven't used these either, but I would be surprised if they hold their own to the RTi A3's or Paradigm's, let alone perform better, for a HT setup, considering they are nearfield monitors.

PSB Image B25 smokes everything mentioned so far. The Beringger mentioned is very formidable as well as its cabinet is quite resonant free, even more so than the PSB but it requires modifications to bring it past the level offered by the stock PSB.

List is $479 but you can get them for about $100 less. I got mine for $359 (a dealer matched the saturday audio internet special).

I'd say Paradigm Atom, Mini Monitor, or Monitor Audio Br2s. After auditioning them all, which is what I'd recommend, I own the latter.

My vote goes with the Energy RC-10 usually goes for around 600 on sale at audio advisor for $399

wolverine man, did you test the MA BR1's?

I run RTIA3s in my 5.1 rig (CSi3 Center, RTi4s Rears, Epik Valor sub).

The RTIA3s at the refurb price are a very good value!

Fantastic detail in mids and treble - big soundstage and good imaging.

If you have a noisy/bad mix or an overly bright source (say early CDs), then the highs can be overly bright - but give the RTiA3s a clean source and clean power and you can get some very nice sonic quality.

Just stirring the pot...

thanks for all the responses. I am currently leaning towards the polks due to the quality of the speaker based on model.

I still like the recommendations of other speakers but i want to remind everyone that the budget is no more than $250 for the pair. There is no flexibility on this price unfortunately. I have already stepped up the budget more than i expected to include these speakers.

Thanks for the responses.

Why not add Infinity Primus P162 to your list. They seem to review very well, and would run you about $200.
