Help me help my dad

I haven't looked at or priced equipment in quite awhile and my dad wants a 5.1 system to go with his new Onkyo SR606. Of course there is a kicker, he wants to spend no more than $850 (completely different mindset). I'm leaning toward the Def Tech ProCinema 600. Any better suggestions? Thanks in advance.

SVSound, elemental Designs and emotiva all have some 5.1 systems that you might want to look at, although they may come in a little higher than budgeted.

Energy C-series 5.0 speakers and BIC 100 sub woofer.
On EBay, should be around $730 total

I should also mention that at 68 and 67 my parents main concern is clear dialogue. They enjoy my home theater setup because they can actually hear everything that is being said.

What are they listening to now? What are they used to?

Would they be as happy with a 3.1? With a good tower or large bookshelf speakers, center to match and a decent sub you could outfit them with a very nice setup and not spend over $600. Sounds as if an audiophile quality setup isn't needed.

Dad enjoys surround sound on movies and Mom wants them to be small(disappear). Both are having problems with hearing voices through their panasonic plasma tv speaker (and yes they do have hearing aids). I think the issue seems to be more volume and especially clarity. Neither will turn it up to anywhere the volume I would though. I've been trying to read a little more today, how about Energy Take or RC Micro? PSB Alpha and a sub? I'm just so out of the loop. Thanks for all the comments.
