Hunter Douglas Platinum PowerRise Upgrade

We're looking for online resellers of Hunter Douglas components. We have a number of non-Platinum PowerRise Duettes. We want to upgrade to the new Platinum satellite eye and remote control. Does anybody know of any online sellers that sell components and not just entire blinds? Thanks. Tom.

Here's a link that doesn't sell the components, but has some information on doing it that might be helpful.

I should think any local Hunter Douglas dealer could order the part for you.

Thank you Deane. I have read your previous posts over the last couple of years and have a couple of questions:
1. I will be upgrading 15 Duettes to Platinum. When they say a Platinum upgrade KIT, do they really mean a kit with a separate part number or do I just order 15 Platinum satellite eyes and the number of remotes I need?
2. There has been discussion in the past on automating control of the Platinum units. Do you know if any simple methods have risen to the top to integrate Platinum Duettes into a Crestron whole-house automation system?
Thanks.
Tom.

Tom.

I know of nothing new, and I discuss it frequently with a friend at the factory. I don't believe it can be done. I've even talked to the design people, and they say it can't be done.

I'll have to check on what one would need to order.

Now, there is another possibility. Since you have the old PowerRise blinds, there is an ESI module that plugs into them and makes them controllable in different ways, including Crestron. Let me check on that, and I'll post back here as there is considerable interest in the subject. It might take take a day or two, but I'll find out all of what you would need, what it will do, and what it would cost.

In checking once again with Hunter Douglas, there is no way to control the Platinum shades from a central automation system. Only with the Hunter supplied remotes and switches. You would purchase the satellite eye, one for each shade, for something in the area of $75 each.

Since you have the old PowerRise, you actually have much more flexibility for control if you want to go in that direction.

You can control them with the ESI RP60-HDP module that sells for around $125 each. You would need one for each shade.

In addition, you would need one (total) ESI R2D7 Serial Bridge to receive the RS-232 information from your Crestron. They are about $175.

It is possible with this system to plug an IR or an RF receiver into the system for independent control from your Crestron system with a hand held remote.

Those RP60-HDP modules can be put in a J-Box at each shade, or my preference is a larger electrical box with all of them in a central location with wiring (low voltage) run to each shade.

Once you go to the ESI control/interface system, there are dozens of combination and configurations that can be put together. I'm quoting one local job now where ESI will put together the box holding all the modules and send it to us ready to install.

If you desire us to supply any of this type equipment for you, we should take it to email so as to not violate the forum rules.

I'm happy to help however I can.
