'Leverage' on TNT HD

Surprised to see no topics about this new show on TNT. Season premiere was tonight, and I have no complaints what so ever. Tuesdays at 10pm are it regular nights. Anyone else able to catch the premiere tonight?

It's on TNT. The network used intrusive popup ads to advertise it.

Two reasons why there isn't a topic here.

I thought it was pretty good, I'd seen the pilot a long time ago, but I'll be watching, popup ads and all.

yep, the TNT factor stopped me tuning in.

I saw the opening of Librarian and thought they had changed their ways. When the promo-bug for Leverage appeared I just fired off an email to TNT and then went back to ignoring the channel.

Looked like it might have been interesting but I'll skip it until the bug-free DVD release. I have plenty of other shows to watch.

I agree completely. With a rather "slow" season of Blu-ray from Netflix I have been renting the former seasons on Blu-ray where available, and also on standard DVD. What with my NBA and college basketball teams on regularly in HD, I have many network dramas tivo'd and way too many premium movies also Tivo'd and available "live". It has become a HD junkie market.

I would like to "plug" a Forum advertiser. The new OPPO dvd player is not cheap, but has an amazing upconverted picture. I rented all three of the extended LOTR episodes rather than settle for the TNT HD showings. I made the right decision. I never thought I would say this.

It reminded me of an Oceans 11 type show. I liked it. I like the double crosses adn the plans. Pretty cool series premiere.

I thought Leverage was pretty good and will keep watching. While pop-ups and bugs can be annoying, that doesn't stop me from watching a good program, after many years of watching tv my brain can ignore that garbage.

I found it by accident, but thought it no better than most of the other crime-scam teams where each has a specialty, dating back to The Rogues, Mission Impossible, A-Team (unfortunately without the acetylene torch), and at least 50 other variations, including, but not limited to, the most recent, and fun incarnation of this theme, Burn Notice. I'll pass.

That's correct, the Pilot at 9:00 followed by a new episode at 10:00 Eastern.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy it but I did. Got to have something to fill The Shield's timeslot.

whew. I thought I was gonna get flamed for the post by Nickdawg about the popups. I was hoping not everyone tuned it off because of it. The pop ups personally dont even bother me.

But yea, cant wait till the next episode on tuesday. I like the story line of the show, i cant think of anything thats similar to it

You can't think of another show in which a Robin Hood-like group of individuals each of which has a specific skill, helps protect and/or exact revenge and/or justice against the forces of evil as depicted by: [cattle rustlers] [bank forclosers] [women and/or minority harassers] [child labor kidnappers] [young women forced into prostitution against their will], etc., etc.,??? Are you for surreal?

Listen, bud, putting everything else aside, either you're a TNT flack, or working directly for the producers of this program, or have never watched television before in your life (believe me, there were other alternatives, but I'm in a generous mood at the moment ), but I think you might want to spend some time attending the Television 101 forum located elsewhere at this website

Hey, lighten up. It was a fun show, and there is no other SERIES currently running new production that is like it to be correct(at least to my knowledge...).

Yes, it's derivative, but tell me what show today is not? Is there an original idea to be found? I vaguely remember Rouges Gallery, and a little bit of To Catch a Thief, and a few others, It's entertaining, and if they keep up the quality I'll keep watching.

Life- No

Law and Order- No

Chuck- No

Burn Notice- sorta the same, but not really.

Every other show I watch during the week- NO

yea, I cant think of any show were the Main story line is 4 talented theives teaming up with some dude who is "normal" to "steal from the rich, and give to the poor" (yea, thats a robin hood line, but robin hood was never a tv show, at least in my lifetime.) The 3 shows you mentioned in your first post, I was a child when they were on TV, so I only watched it for the action, didnt really bother with what was actually happening. Yes, i've seen it in movies, and seen it as smaller 1-episode storylines on other shows, but I have never seen a show use it as a main story line. So dont start using your TV/smartass humor on someone that just watches tv for the fun of it, and either enjoys it or doesn't like the show. I dont look for all the little things in a show the most of the people on this site look for every week. So, flame on brother.

Palladin, you keep alluding to the variations of this show, what are they? Perhaps I'm missing something good.
Almost turned it off a few times watching the premier. Kinda of cheesy. The second show was a little better. Will give it more one show. Reminds me of Hustle and Burn Notice.

Funny, I liked the first one better than the second one. Good timing though, everything going on break over the holidays, I'll be watching, I like Gina Bellman, actually I like the whole crew.

I'm enjoying it so far, although it's a total ripoff of Hustle.
It's crap, but if there's nothing else on it's a fun watch. It is what it is, low-brow, formulaic, lowest common denominator TV entertainment. Hutton was 10 times better in the NBC mini-series "Kidnapped".

The blonde daredevil girl is fun.
From my standpoint you're painting this show with quite a wide brush. I would never classify it with any of the shows you listed, perhaps as a sub-genre of that group if I was being generous.

Ah well, I guess it really doesn't matter, I'm enjoying the show, and that's what matters to me.
So back on topic;

I wish they would ease up on the cheesy lines a little bit and make it a more serious show (but not lose the comedy completely). I loved the pilot but so far, it's been a bit bleh.... The show is almost like an American remake of Hustle but with the characters having more specialized (and varied) skills.

And using a laptop to remotely shutdown a Chrysler 300C seconds after seeing it for the first time?! Crap like that should be removed from the show. The crazy, money-loving girl is just awesome. Somehow I don't buy Gina Bellman in anything other than a British accent

Overall, I like it but somehow it seems uninspired.

I thought the same thing, Chryslers sure are easy to hack :P But then again, in the universe Hollywood writers live in, ALL computers can be instantly hacked by anyone banging on a keyboard with all 10 fingers :P

I did like how Sydney? saw them in the van and got the cops summoned so quickly. Hopefully he shows up more, as I like the actor (though he will always be Badger to me).
Did anyone else notice the editing mistake when the hacker and the blonde are in the van waiting for the british guy to arrive? As he is driving towards them, the car is clearly a BMW, you can see the distinct grill and the angel eyes....then the camera switches to the two people in the van ....the when they show the british guy turning into the parking space it is now a 300.....I Tivo'd it and after noticing the switch, I went back and slow mo'd it to verify my find....Try it!
