I have just purchased a new Sony receiver (STR-DA2400ES) to go with a new 55" Sony Bravia KBR45 series LED lit LCD TV. I have connected Cable, DVD and AppleTV to the TV via the receiver using variously composite, component and HDMI cables. The receiver is connected to the TV solely via a single HDMI cable.
Everything is working fine when initially set up but after turning off the system by just using the TV off control and relying on Bravia Sync via HDMI to shut down the receiver at the same time, when I restart the system later I get audio from all of the components but no picture.
I have found that if I go into the receiver setup and turn off the HDMI control so that that the TV's remote no longer shuts down the receiver as the TV shuts down, the problem is resolved. I can switch on either the TV or receiver first and I will get picture and sound from all components.
I realise that the sole inconveniece with this is an extra button to be pressed when turning the system off or on and so is hardly worth worrying about but the system is only a couple of days old and I am annoyed one of its features doesn't work.
I am new to Sony products, Bravia Sync and HDMI controls so I realise I may have got some setting wrong. The fact that it works perfectly initially or after a hard power down on the receiver using the power switch makes me believe the cables between the various input components and the receiver are fine so it is either a faulty receiver or some setting I may have wrong.
If there are any Sony experts out there who can suggest something it would be greatly appreciated. Sony have offered to swap the receiver for a new one but this is a big hassle I'd like to avoid if possible.
many thanks
