Price no object...Best Cable?

If price is no object, who is the BEST cable manufacturer. I work at Circuit City and get a significant discount on Monster brand cables. Is it worth spending the extra money to get different brand? Thanks

Lol, we should be asking you this question since you work there. I don't really know to be honest. I was given one for free.

No it is not worth it when you are dealing with HDMI cables. They are all the same. Now, if you are looking at component cables, it's a matter of opinion. Go find the most expensive cable possible (pear cable comes to mind) and you have your winner

I work in the computer department, but I have no idea about television cables =). Thank you both for your answers!

I would buy (and have) my HDMI cables from monoprice. They are way cheaper than your Monsters and work great. You will not notice a difference between the Monster and the Monoprice cables (especially if your cable run is under 50ft). The only difference is your wallet has money left over when you use monoprice.

Interesting. Up until this last spring Sears was pushing Monster cables with every purchase- I was wondering why they made such a sudden shift to Belkin

Best for what?

What kind of cable?

If I had to pick a single manufacturer though, it would probably be Belden. When it comes to the two main types of cabling needed in A/V and networking: coax and twisted pair, they make what is undoubtedly and widely used professionally, the very best precision video coax, and they are the only company to make a bonded twisted pair cable which pushes UTP/STP impedance stability to pretty incredible specs, which is necessary for the best performance.

Undoubtedly, circuit city does not sell anything that comes close to the best, price no object. The nice thing about Belden though is that, being professional in nature, is not irrationally inflate in price for no reason.

The question though, is do you need broadcast level performance. And for most people they don't.

I agree! I recently found out about monoprice and ordered some HDMI's from them. I am very impressed! Why pay more for a brand name that does the same job for a lot less. I would rather use that money for other component upgrades.
