Yes, but the shortcut is buried in the Program Library section when you install it, not on the Movies & TV line like Vista.

The new version appears on the main line...

Excellent, thanks guys, I'll be starting in on a 7mc htpc relatively soon, just an initial test build to see how everything interacts then when I get all the new hardware amassed I'll be starting over from scratch fixing whatever I screwed up the first time for my final HTPC build for quite some time. VERY glad to hear it's work in the new os as I've found I quite like 7 thus far for desktops.

I ended up having to reinstall Windows 7 RC after an attempted upgrade for ATI Catalyst drivers resulted in blue-screens at boot.

Before doing so, I saved of the Media Browser folder from Program Data. And copied it back into the new Program Data folder after the Win 7 install was complete. Reinstalled Media Browser and it found all the previous settings and cache.

Nice.

Don't blame the guy.

The "something for nothing" culture has to end.

I'd pay Sam (and the others) for the work but I bet there's thousands that'd walk away looking for the next free option.

Really sucks .

Thanks, I wouldn't work for nothing either. The best thing is to make a hobby into a money maker - who started out of garage?

Do I have to add all the movie folders individ. in media browser config ?

my file structre is :
D:\\MOVIES

D:\\MOVIES\\SPACEBALLS
D:\\MOVIES\\AirPlane
D:\\MOVIES\\Attack of killer Tomatoes
ETC....

If I just add
D:\\

nothing shows up in media browser.....

IF i add one or 2 or the child directories they show up...

Sorry for the NOOB question...

Just add

D:\\Movies\\

and it should pull all of the movies.

You can add all of them individually, but adding it as I stated above would be quicker,

And as for MediaBrowser going retail, well, I support them all the way. Its a very good plug-in that I believe people would pay for. I know many will just look for something else thats free, but thats how loyalty is now, loyal to the cheapest brand, :/.

Just tell me where to send the money, my cards ready.

Just finished up a fresh build of Win7 RC 32-bit tonight. MB 2.1.1 installed without a glitch. I had all my files already setup from when I was using 2.0.11, so I had a bit of a head-start, but the configurator setup was painless. Overall, it's a pretty nice upgrade.

The one thing I am stumped on though is the Sync View menu. I can't find it anywhere. Anyone happen to know where they are hiding it? I looked on the configurator in both the basic and advanced mode. I didn't see it anywhere in the general MB setting or in the Config or views tabs in both Vanilla and Diamond.

Thanks guys. I will give windows 7 RC a try on the weekend. Hopefully my HDMI audio (bitstream DD5.1 and DTS5.1) on the latest cat9.6 drivers from ATI. I have the HD3450 HDMI native video card.

My machine specs are:
p4 3.0Ghz
2GB RAM

Cheers,
Kenn.

I have been loving my setup recently...but my Video Card seems to have a bit of a problem now. I can only get my desktop to show up in safe mode...in normal mode right after the welcome screen it goes blank.

But as far as MKV containers go, do they provide better quality? And I have a 360 HD DVD player hooked up to the HTPC right now, I know it upconverts on the 360, anyone have any idea if it upconverts when hooked up to a computer?

Ok installed the beta and it works fine now on win7. I gotta say though I like vista media center a lot better then win7. I know its not way different but it just seems to have taken a step back to me.

I'm not sure what you're trying to show us there, because that's how it should look. Now you click on Movies, and it'll show them all in the layout of your choosing.

You can add additional root level folders, for example TV Shows or Trailers, and they'll appear on the home page next to Movies.

I click on "movies" and it just starts playing a movie....lol it does not open up a layout and does not display the 20 or so movies in sub folders.

Do you have a movie in the root directly of D:\\movies or only 1 movie file in a movie subfolder?

MB will autostart a movie by default (can turn it off under options) if it is the only file found.

That's a known bug in Mediabrowser. You have to edit your XML file to fix it.

I'll go find the post on Mediabrowser's forum and post it here.

Ok found it:

you need to edit your MediaBrowserXml.config file. It's located in c:\\programdata\\mediabrowser. Just open it in notepad and find the following two lines:

True
True

Change the True in both lines to False.

Edit: Forgot to mention, you need to exit out of Mediabrowser before you edit the xml file.

This setting is also available within Media Browser's settings under the Behavior heading (Allow Nested Movie Folders and Movie Playlists).

You can leave nested folders enabled and disable movie playlists and it will work for you.

The bug unfortunately for some, is that changing these settings doesn't take. That's why the manual editing is often necessary.

Is anyone here successfully using Media Browser with an extender? Specifically a Linksys DMA 2200 Extender.

I am having trouble playing movies in VOB format on the extender. Some movies play fine, some play with an out of sync audio track, and some have no audio. What is strange is that they all have AC3 audio and play perfectly fine on the console.

I tried using transcode 360 with Media Browser and I also tried using ffdshow as the default audio codec for Media Center with no luck.

Any ideas?

I have asked this before with no luck but I will try again.

When Media Browser would launch TMT2 to play a Blu Ray it would stutter and skip terrable for about the first 5 minutes and then clear up and be fine. My Movies never gives me this problem, always plays smooth right away.

I was hoping that TMT3 would be better. So now that they finally have the beta patch out and it will play Blu Ray from folders I got it all installed and working last night. Well it does exactly the same thing. It has to me something with Media Browser. Way back on one of the first versions I don't remeber having this problem, I don't remember when it started but it has been going on for a long time. Love Media Browser but we still have to use My Movies for quality play back.
I rip all my BD movies (and BD/DVD TV series) to .mkv.

What are my options for getting chapter skip to work? Currently, pressing the chapter skip forward or reverse on the remote only skips forwards or backwards 30 seconds. The >> and << buttons don't work at all (all this works just fine on regular DVD rips).

I'm using W7 RC1 32-bit and other than MB itself, the only utilities installed are MadFlac and MatroskaSplitter.

I'm trying to keep the number of 3rd party utils on my HTPC boxes (all are G35 or G45 based) to a minimum.

Thanks!

I've just started using TMT 3 and I get none of the stuttering you describe, using the TMT within 7MC or having MB open it as an external player. Mine starts playing and is smooth througout. It's possible it's an issue with VMC if your in Vista.

How are you ripping it? using eac3to? are u also extracting the chapters to a txt file?
You can then merge all 3 using mkvmerge and it will have chapter support.
I also can't get chapter support in 7MC or VMC. I have ripped all my blu-rays to MKV with eac3to. I select the chapters, video, and hd audio. The chapters are output in txt format. I then merge the three with mkvmerge, load the chapters in the chapters section under the Global tab, and drag and drop them into the Chapter Editor I make sure the language is set to English and country is set to US.

Chapters seem to work in VLC or other external players but when I try to skip chapters in 7MC or VMC it just skips 30 seconds ahead. Does media center support chapters?
