Media Browser: Great alternative to DVD Library/My Movies/Movie Collector - Page 61

Oh man. I hope this really fixes everything they said it would.

Does 10. Folder path paramater via command line support restored to TMT2 method (3rd party apps that support TMT2 might still require update to support TMT3.) mean that we don't have to install TMT2 if we are using eac2to to pull out TrueHD and DTS if we are making a mkv?

Any configuration ideas?

Try moving one into a test folder. For Example, say you have the Godfather. Create a new folder called the Godfather, and move ONLY the TS folders (audio and video) into it. Don't copy the xml files or any pictures.

Use the moviebrowser Configuration app to define that as a new share.

Now when you try to play that movie, does it work?

I'm thinking there may be an issue with your metadata...it might be looking for the wrong file/path, etc.

I have the same issue. For my solution, I just put the files in an ISO and play it through Daemon tools. The facility works very well in MB. I just didn't have the patience to try to hunt the real solution down. Unless you're wedded to the notion of playing straight from the DVD folders, you may want to consider this path. Imgburn does the conversion from DVD folder to ISO pretty fast.

I downloaded Daemon Tools Lite but don't understand how to configure it under Media Browser Configuration wizard??

Click browse Under Daemon Tools in the wizard and find the daemon.exe file so MB knows where to execute it from.

Then change the drive letter to the letter that daemon tools is using.

Daemon tools is shown as iso player and drive "k" shows under daemon and MB configuration wizard. Still get error when hitting play when launching from MB interface under VMC???

Is this really that hard or am I just not understanding?

Did you convert your TS folders to ISOs?

After scouring the web and lots of frustration, I think I have everything working. Deleted all media from Media Browser, Moved one of my movies to "videos" folder in Vista under my user. Added the folder only to Media Browser ""Video" and restarted VMC. Movie showed up under Media Browser, with metadata, etc. Clicked play and movie launched with Theatertek!!

Further testing to follow. Maybe a thread sticky "Media Browser for Dummies"
would be of use to us all.

Further help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Since you already get the Media Browser going, you may move your movie file back to the drive other than C: and reset it in the MB setup wizard. Better not put all your movies in drive C, it will slow down your OS and also your system backup image file will become huge.

This was actually a test before I do a new HTPC build, old rig is almost 9 years old. Thanks for the input.

I had the same problem last week. Did a clean install, had backed up my mediabrowser folder, installed MB again, put in my folder, set up the vf's, and it kept telling me cannot play on every movie I have. Some of them were even WMV format so I KNOW it should have played it.

Downloaded some codecs, turned the computer off, didn't touch it for a few days, cut on the other day and everything worked perfect. Can't really blame it on MB as not playing a supported file is definitely a VMC problem.

I try to use the mediainfo, but it does not work. I download the executible mediainfo, and it install at c:\\program files\\mediainfo\\, then I copy the mediainfo.dll into c:\\windows\\system32. I check back the media browser, there is nothing happen. Do I do something wrong? I am using Windows 7 RC

MB versions 2.1.0 and higher now use a mediainfo plugin. Open the configuration wizard and click on the Plugins tab. Hit the add button at the bottom for the list of available plugins and choose media info. It's probably a good idea to undo your manual attempt before running the wizard.

Hey guys,

I have VMC with MediaBrowser working fine, however, I'm getting pretty bad jagged edges playing ripped DVD's from my media server. Same movie, played via my PS3, looks really nice. I was doing some reading and came across mention of Theatertek, so I'm thinking about giving that a try. Is there anything in Media Browser I need to do to tell VMC to use TT as the default playback program? Or will that happen automatically when I install TT?
If you get TMT3, it has an integrated Media Center plugin. MC will probably prompt you which player you want to use, Media Center or TMT when you load an ISO/DVD.

Windows 7 64bit Windows Media Center codec guide (tested 100% works!)

1. Install Sharky 32bit codec pack (I used version 1.1.9):
http://shark007.net/win7codecs.html

2. Install Sharky 64bit codec pack (I used version 1.2.4):
http://shark007.net/x64components.html

3. Now go to Doom9 forum and download the tool to change your default Directshow filters:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146910

4. Now run the Directshow filter changer. Under 64bit Directshow Filters change the default H264/AVC decoder to FDDshow.

5. Doing the steps above now results in perfect playback performance. When I use the Microsoft 64 bit codecs I get all kinds of hiccups and video lag. When I use FDDshow everything runs like a champ!

So I've begun to fall in love with Media Browser but I have a couple of customization issues with it that I would like to resolve.

1. Is there any way to open Windows Media Center straight into "My Movies" folder within Media Browser?

Right now I have to open Windows Media Center, click on Media Browser, then click on My Movies and then I can browse my collection. Is there a way to use My Movies as the default open location?

2. Is there a way to enable the scroll wheel in Media Browser?

The wife hates how she has to drag the mouse down through cover view. If we could scroll through the 500 movies it would be a lot easier than moving the mouse.

3. What do you guys use to control Media Browser (Windows Media Center)?

Right now I am using a mouse and keyboard but when I'm done building my Theater I would like to get a univeral remote or that new Logitech Dinovo Mini. My friend has the mini and swears by it but I was wondering what you all use?

Any know that if MB can choose a player (either Media Center or TMT3) after the DVD image is mounted? I just don't want that one extra clip on my mouse or remote.

I am using MB 2.1.1. After I choose the mediainfo plugin tab, do I need to install anything, or it is automatic?

Make a new shortcut on the desktop and copy/paste this into the target:

%windir%\\ehome\\ehshell.exe %windir%\\ehome\\ehshell.exe /entrypoint:{ce32c570-4bec-4aeb-ad1d-cf47b91de0b2}\\{fc9abccc-36cb-47ac-8bab-03e8ef5f6f22}

I use the DiNovo Mini and love it...only wish it had an ALT key

It's not a MB issue but a MC issue.

Harmony One. I have the HTPC set to launch VMC. The One works great! Haven't figured out how to get it to go directly to Media Browser but very easy to click on the arrows on the remote to navigate to it.
You can setup a scheduled task such that when you start up MediaBrowser will open. Just tell it to open the shortcut that Iteki posted and you should be good. I'm curious but how does the Harmony One interact with the HTPC? Did you just buy a cheap IR reciever?

Any USB IR Receiver will do. Just make sure the Harmony remote does IR. I'm not sure if a RF USB receiver would work. I'm using the one that came with my Aver M780 Tuner MCE remote.

Or you could just drag the shortcut to the Windows Startup folder.

Excellent! Thanks. I should have thought of that.

tlmaclennan,
I bought a cheap WMC remote off of ebay mainly for the IR target. Harmony has the codes so it was very easy to set up plus you can set up any commands that you want.
So I tried this:

Make a new shortcut on the desktop and copy/paste this into the target:

%windir%\\ehome\\ehshell.exe %windir%\\ehome\\ehshell.exe /entrypoint:{ce32c570-4bec-4aeb-ad1d-cf47b91de0b2}\\{fc9abccc-36cb-47ac-8bab-03e8ef5f6f22}

and the shortcut takes me to "My Pictures" Any idea on how to fix that?
